Military Grade Composite vs Mirrored/Reactive Surface Composite

Hello,
I'm currently running with a mostly upgraded Vulture and I wonder if it makes much sense to upgrade from my current Military Grade Composite to either Mirrored or Reactive Surface Composite because both are extremely expensive (over 10.000.000, I think). Question is if the protection against projectile weapons on mirrored composite (or the other way round) is also slightly improved or at least not downgraded that much compared to the much cheaper military grade composite.

while the military comp. offers medium protection against heat&kinetic weapons, the mirrored comp. is *little* weaker on projectiles, but stronger on heat.
since you fly a vulture, you know its agility. you are a hard to "hit with bullets" target, so my suggestion is a strong YES.

there is an old thread somewhere showing a diagram on each composite, off my mind: military protects like [2,2], mirror [3,1], reactive [3,1] on heat/kinetic.
besides, scales arent linear in Elite games, expect SOME trade-off while up/downgrading anything, weight/powerdrain/heatgeneration/price/slot etc..

Nice, that's what I wanted to know, thx - good to know that it's worth saving up the credits towards that.

Hmm. While beam lasers are effective aginst shields canons are better for armors. I know some that switch the weapon once the shild is gone. So a weaker protection against projectile isn't really a good thing to have at least if you fight against players.

Didn't know that the specialised armors in one category are weeker than the standard. That renders them a lot less worth than the standard.
Always asumed it would be something like [2,2] for standard and [3,2] repsective [2,3] for the specialized to justify the much higher costs teh specialised have.

On the other hand a lot of players flee once the shields go down. Beams are much better for chasing a fleeing opponent so reflective composite would help in that situation.
