Actually, as a matter of fact, I've seen a few "Massacre the blah blah ships in the whatever system" show up occasionally, and the targets are sometimes labeled in conflict zones. Maybe if you go to a few systems that are either at war or civil war, you might find a few of these. As for rank up missions go, they're either courier data, haul cargo, or smuggle cargo from one place to another; so war zone missions might not be a thing until later on... *sigh*

As for rank up missions go, they're either courier data, haul cargo, or smuggle cargo from one place to another; so war zone missions might not be a thing until later on... *sigh*

Hmm...what happened to Rear Admiral or Admiral? Rear Admiral used to be what qualified for a Federal Corvette, wasn't it?
I believe the common misconception is that these rankings are for the Federal Navy Auxiliary force, not the actual Navy. So these "Navy Ascension Missions" are essentially "off-the-book" missions sanctioned by the Federal Navy and/or a representative of a faction allied with the Federation. Most of them can still be lame and I simply ignore them until one pops up that looks a bit more interesting. Even though your Fed ranking seems to be stuck at 100% of current rank you will still get credit for all qualifying missions you complete and your rankings will advance to the proper level once you had completed the "Ascension Mission" to the next rank, so instead of starting at 1% you will see 5% or 8% depending on how many missions got completed in the meantime.
I do not know if the Empire ranking works the same way yet since I'm still grinding thru the Federation as well (74% Ensign).

Where do you even go to get navy missions? I haven't seen one in months.

Been at 100% a few times and still not seen the ranking mission appear.
