Military Strike Zones - If you're not aligned to a power, do you get CR instead of PP points?

The one thing I've thusfar enjoyed from PP is the fact it's created combat zones (Military Strike Zones) where you can actually find other CMDRs to fight! - Last time this existed IMHO was the Eranin Conflict Zone back in Beta (as it was the only one, you'd find CMDRs there)!

Anyway, for me to go to one and fight against the Strike Zone Power's CMDRs, I earn one magical Powerpoint per kill, but of course generally I'm just bleeding CRs away with repair/ammunition costs . So I'm losing money by doing the main thing I still enjoy in the game.

If I don't take part in PP, and still go to these Strike Zones, can I still sign up for the defending side, and instead earn CR for my effort?

Normal conflict zones exist in systems not effected by powers, they are now worth double the credits from before. I'm sure I went into a mili zone and only earned merits etc. I'm having fun away from powerplay in a conflicted system with feds try to over throw emp. Once I have some cash will be back to earning merits and helping my power.

Yes, but you are aligned to a Power, so you would earn credits for kills in a Military Strike Zone.

My question is, if you are not aligned with a Power and kill a ship in a Military Strike Zone, what happens? Do you get a Combat Bond/CR reward like a normal Conflict Zone?

I don't think so, unless the ships also have bounties etc. If they are spawned expressly as part of the powerplay mechanics I'd say their benefits only accrue when you are pledged for the opposing faction.

I can't see how they work as anything else but a Combat Zone for anyone not in a Power?

You turn up, surely choose a side/faction, blow up the enemy - who are undoubtly attacking you now - and you're rewarded what? Powerplay vouchers have no meaning to you as you're not part of a power. So what else would you get?

I'm not in a Power that has military strike zones, so I can't say, but isn't your faction alliance automatically selected when drop into those zones? I don't know if non-participants can choose a faction there at all, and if you could you probably wouldn't get anything.

Just guessing, based on similar mechanics, Neil :)

We're going off topic :( - If you belong to a Power, and you go to another Power's Strike Zone you can choose to fight for the defending forces or (strangely) for the other Power.

But the answer/information I'm after is what happens if you are NOT in a Power and go to one of these Military Strike Zones, choose a side/faction, and blow up an enemy. DO you get CR?

I am willing to test this out, as I am not in a power. Only thing I need to know is how do I locate a Military Strike Zone without flying from system to system manually searching?

We need a volunteer neutral :) (my guess is still no, you'd get zip).

If you are not aligned to a power the CZ will work the same way it used to. Go there. Choose a side. Kill stuff. Off to the local station and hand in the combat bonds. Get cash :)

Ta - Are you absolutely sure?

If so, I will cash in my current Powerplay Points, leave my Power (not play Powerplay anymore) and simply fight CMDRs in Military Strike Zones in the same way.

So instead of (needlessly) bleeding money to fight CMDRs, I'll instead stand a chance of making money there!

My impression is these spawn points are there specifically for pp so you wont get credit payments, plus try scanning them for kill warrants, i bet they are clean. but then i might be wrong unitl i test it.

Dayrth above says (hopefully factually) that for a non-Power CMDR, a Strike Zone works like a combat zone (which is logical). If this is the case, I have no reason to continue playing PP, so I can leave my Power, still go to these zones where I can actually find other CMDRs for PvP and *shock horror* make CR instead of losing it!

I am not aligned to any power and I went to a military strike zone on Saturday and picked the system defence faction to fight for killed 2 anacondas and no credits went back to the station to see if there was anything to cash there was nothing and i had a bit of a repair bill on top as well. So I would say thet if you are not aligned to a power you get no credits.

Surely that's a bug?

So dayrth is wrong in what he's saying then? - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=156595&p=2400724&viewfull=1#post2400724
