Horizons min speed entering the slot for smuggling

Depends a bit on ship size, but I've never had a successful scan when approaching around 200.

The main point is to approach from 7.5 km out centered on the bay. If you approach from any other angle it increases the odds of getting scanned.

Line up, request docking, hit boost and maintain a decent speed. 150 is probably enough. If you hear "scan detected" just keep going and then drop off center-line as soon as you enter the station. The scan normally won't complete and you can then just dock as normal.

OK, I was trying it with around 350 ... and was crashing ... the rear wall of the station came too sudden.

The brakes of my AspX are not very effective ;-)

You don't need to go that fast. It isn't necessary.

You can observe and test scanning efficiency when you're not smuggling. I make it standard practice to always land unscanned. When you do that, you shouldn't have to do anything differently when smuggling.

Alignment on approach in SC is important so that you drop facing the entrance. Once you've dropped, line up centered on the entrance, request docking, boost once from 7 km out and coast in staying around 150 or so. Kill the throttle and drop gear as you enter. Move off the station center line so you can't be scanned from outside, break the line of sight.

Don't panic if you start getting scanned. You can enter the station and break the scan before it finishes almost every time.

Hi,

is there any advice what the min speed is for entering a station and not being scanned?

Thnx

Another way to do it is to use a DC.
I boost through the toast rack, full welly, then throttle down engaging the DC. It generally stops me before hitting the far end. Although, since the DC has changed a bit recently, I would check in something small and cheep.

How complicated. All this hasty boosting [squeeeee]
Approach as normal, if a scan starts, activate silent running, maybe drop a heat sink.
Dock as usual. There you go.

Since the last couple of updates, smuggling is really easy now. I just fly in the slot normally. occasionally, I hear "scan detected" when I'm just outside, but it never finishes before I get inside. I think you're more likely to get scanned when coming out of the station, so I always line up with the slot and boost out until I'm clear.

Yeah they don't scan as much as they used to. I still boost it in the mailslot for fun. FA off and flip and boost to slow yourself down or as others have suggested 4 pips to sys. But you really don't need to do it much anymore.

Did they change how silent running works? Because it definitely didn't used to help with NPCs before. I have tons of old-school Robigo runs (one scan and you fail all missions) under my belt, never used silent running because it never seemed to impact the NPCs.

Before, once they started a scan, it meant they had a visual on you. Once they have a visual on you, going "silent" doesn't do anything, they are staring at your ship with their mark I eyeballs. Silent running only affects (or used to affect) you showing up on sensors.
