Mind blowing experience

I jumped into an unmapped binary system as I was wandering across the galaxy (I'm a bit of a sightseer, it seems) and after scanning the star I dropped in by, I decided to see if I could find its companion. I tried the usual running around and found nothing moving against the background, and was about to give up when a frame shift wake popped up, at 485,000 ls! I don't know why I spotted it, and I don't care, I took off in that direction to find not only the companion star but three planets and over a dozen moons. It's so hard to get my mind wrapped around the idea that there was so much to be found over there and I would never have seen it if I hadn't spotted that FSD wake.

This game is a great way to demonstrate just how big space is.

So true, you really do have to "get out there" to begin to appreciate the size of this game area.

i dont get it. whats the connection between the FS wake and the unseen stars? i thought FS wakes are only made by ships popping in supercruise/hypercruise?

honestly i think the hardest thing i've had to deal with so far is surviving a fight and losing the canopy, if you don't know, the hud indicators show up on that glass so without it, you can't see where your aiming at, have to keep turning and checking to see if your centered. might aswell learn to land at sites using the left distance indicator you might have to one day.

I'm sure that was it. The star and planets were actually a bit beyond the wake, but close enough that I could see them.

The funny thing is, I keep having plans of getting involved in some of the storyline going on, but I keep getting sidetracked on my way by wondering "Gee, what's over there?"

My whole game style is all about getting distracted, and I sure do love finding that other star and then discovering many planetary systems orbiting it.
