Mined Asteroids in Zones declared as High wihout getting anything. Need Advice!

Hey,
I tried mining without any results. So i read some tutorials on how to do mining. Then I tried again. Again with no results.
I bought myself a minig laser. Think it is class 1 as it shoots pulse like and not beem like.
Also i bought myself a refinery module.
Then i went to 2 different zones declared as high mining zones by the nav computer.
There i shot at single asteroids for about 10 to 30 seconds without getting anything extractet from the asteroid. I tried this for about 10 minutes on many different asteroids.
Is this normal?
How long do I have to shoot at an asteroid before it drops something?
Are there empty asteroids?
Please can you give me some advice on these questions?!

I've been playing in single player mode so long. So if there are depleted asteroids it wasn't me.
And sorry for the english. I am playing the german version and so might have mixed up some terms. Hope you get the point.

Thanks in advance!

Get a prospector limpet controller and tag the asteroid to see if they are really depleted.

If that's the case this is a bug unless you are mining rocks you did deplete yourself before (chipping a single fragment and jumping out depletes asteroids already).
They replenish after two hours.

High Res are called that mostly because they are High risk, compared to normal Res and Low Res.

You need to look for pristine rings around planets and it is better to avoid the official Res.
For me these labels have always been indicators used for bounty hunting, more than anything else.

Are you actually in range of the asteroid? Mining lasers, like the more militant versions of the laser, have a maximum range beyond which they won't work. The weapon indicator on the HUD lights up when there is a target within range.

Hitting the asteroid should sound very different to the laser just firing off into empty space, too. If it sounds the same to you, then you're not in range.

Mining lasers should not fire as a pulse. They work as if they were a beam laser. You might want to be sure you are using the correct weapon/tool for the job. Maybe you have not put it in a fire group, or you have the wrong one selected.

Good call you two, didn't spot the missing mining laser ;D

Not quite true. While they do come with higher risk, they also give a fragment bonus (haz>high>normal>low). Not to mention you can use them to map and relocate asteroids.

Exactly this whas the point. combat pulse laser is mountet left. Mining laser is mounted right. hud has both lasers displayed viceversa. So I used the wrong laser all the time.
Now, with the correct laser selected, everything works fine. Thanks for the help!
