Newcomer / Intro Mines and Torps

Hey Commanders
It's been a while since I've dusted off the T9 which has Mines in the level 2 platforms and Torps in the front level 1 platforms. Are the mines even worth having and can point defense take down torps?

Thanks for any information concerning issues...o7

Point defenses practically can't take down torpedos (it takes them a huge amount of time). Mines are very cumbersome for defense in my experience. NPCs became smarter and won't run into mines so easily anymore. You can use mines as bombs but you need a lot of practice to hit a ground target and even more to hit another ship.

Mines were great, long time ago. Now they are kind of meh. It's a real shame. I had fun with them on my trading ships.
Not really worth it, imo.
Torps are fine, but personally I'd say if you want to face your opponents in a T9 instead of just running, the more reliable way would probably be something like beam turrets on top (to strip their shields while you're turning towards them) and then a couple of missile launchers to quickly dispose of them.
T9 isn't a dogfighter and even if you can keep the target in your sights, torps are a one-hit wonder - if they miss (and they do it a lot, in my experience), you've got nothing fo fall back to.

As has been said the heyday of mines is some years ago, torpedoes aren’t something I have used due to the low number of shots you get they are also fairly slow I believe so can be outrun.
