Horizons Mines not working as good in v2.2?.

Has anyone else found that using mines since the update is not as effective anymore?. I try to avoid combat but had a lot of mines in my trading Anaconda and had my inderdiction evading down to an art but since the update I find that although I hit the attacker and he goes red I haven't managed a kill yet. Also a lot more mines seem to hit my shields than previously. How do I use heat seeking missiles, do I just fire them off or do I have to target the attacker first?. Sorry if that seems like a dumb question but I really do try to avoid combat where possible.

I have found also mines to be ineffective. The sneaky no-good attackers seem now not to attach from directly in my wake, which is where they needed to be for my mines to blow them up. I simply cannot hit them with my mines as they are flying a "from above" attack rather than a "from behind" attack.

Yeah I found mines are not as effective as before as npcs dont fly exactly behind you anymore. What I usually do is to submit to interdiction (zero throttle), as soon as you are dropped boost speed and get ready to jump. NPC usually have a few seconds before it being active and if you are quick enough you'll be boosting out of their sensor range. Rinse and repeat.

Tested them out in my Asp. Fired the whole lot in bursts at a viper that had interdicted me. He avoided the whole lot. Promptly pulled them off my ship and replaced with more normal weapons again.

Came to a similar conclusion but still find them useful for escapes (albeit not as useful as they used to be). Interdictor does not stay in wake long enough to get hit by them. Don't think I've hit a single target since the new patch. This does mean, however, that they are no longer chasing and firing directly from behind and because of that, they often can no longer keep up with my ship while firing. So far I've tested this in a DBE and a CM4.

G'day all,
Same thing with the mines here since the new patch, I suddenly noticed that on the Anaconda the mines fitted to the port and starboard side were blowing themselves up on launch. Also as op has stated they have definatly lost there effectiveness.

At first I thought I was not lining up the enemy directly behind myself and on the same plane, but when I did so there was no effect ( well one in 10 launches of mines hit the enemy).

Nice of ED to tell us all that they have now nerfed mines. My question is why?

Change may not be so much to the mine's, but to the Ai and Ai ships.

A week or two prior to 2.2, I had fitted Mines to those same ports, and that was the result, so I got rid of them.

Mine laying has become more difficult than it used to be, but it can still be effective. What I have been doing is positioning them behind me, small pitch down for a couple of seconds, level back out, then start dropping them. Either they run into them, or sometimes they seem to just...stop. This can allow you to extend, and escape.
