Mingfu System Permit Thread!!

I officially don't know how to get in there either. Working on it though. Can't find any Mingfu sub factions in surrounding systems so far. Maybe it's locked for one of the Admiral ranks? I'm currently Post Captain and slowly ranking up...

Its federal systems, so it should be unlocked when you get ranks to get it. So, far there is no information what rank. Maybe Admiral can tell us if he have permit? Note that some systems are locked behind permit and there is no way to get the permit. these systems frontier have reserved for something in the future.

I'm an Admiral but don't have that permit. Maybe you can get it from a nearby system by ranking up with a local faction?

As far as i know permits for empire or federal system locked behind permit can only be obtained by getting right military rank. So, if Admiral doesn´t have permit its likely that permit isn´t available yet. Frontier have saved that system for later use.

Mingfu isn't listed on the wiki permits page, so it shouldn't be locked behind a naval rank.
.
I recently aquired a permit to get to the Terra Matter system. To do this I had to become allied with the faction that controls Terra Matter - the Brotherhood of Terra Mater. The brotherhood are a minor faction in the nearby Hecate system, so I did a number of missions for this faction out of Hecate. It took me 3 days.
.
I suggest you check out all the closest systems to Mingfu and find a station with a faction that sounds like it could be the Mingfu faction you need to become allied with.
.
edit - just checked EDDB. The system appears to be controlled by the "Revolutionary Mingfu Labour" faction. So if that shows up in any nearby systems, becoming allied with this faction should get you the permit.

I am intrigued now. I was nearby at Kappa Fornacis last night and thought about having a look, but I had just been trying to load up on Onion Head (and noticed that the OH max is still nerfed from the CG - bug report raised). Now that I have offloaded the OH, I might swing past tonight and see if I can find the RML faction anywhere.

I just visited a station in 3 of the systems near Mingfu.

  • 19 Phi-2 Ceti, Crick City (ringed ELW with station orbiting inside ring)
  • Shangdi, Becquerel Colony
  • LP 825-559, Larson Terminal (star is white dwarf - found this out the hard way)

.
Unfortunately, none of these stations had factions that looked like they had anything to do with Mingfu. Each of these systems had other stations that I didn't visit, but I think the factions are the same per system (I could be wrong about this though).

I suspect the answer lies at 19 Phi-2Ceti.
Mingfu has a minor faction 'Future of 19 Phi-2 Ceti' which is also the controlling faction at 19 Phi
I am Admiral and also allied to 'Future of 19 Phi-2 Ceti'
On the basis that permits are sometimes granted by non controlling sub factions I have been hanging around Crick City in the hope of being given a mission to Mingfu. So far nothing. Scratches head!

Except that the "Future of 19 Phi-2 Ceti" faction is based in 19 Phi-2 Ceti, not in Mingfu. Only Mingfu-based factions can grant the permit. As far as I know, there is no evidence suggesting that expanding to a permit-locked system allows that faction to obtain permit-granting rights. Even if it did, they would have to have presence in ANOTHER system within 15 LY of the permit-locked system to do so. And this is proven in other permit-locked home factions, which are unable to give out the permit beyond 15 LY of the home system.

It doesn't alter the fact that for Independent and Alliance permit systems, you can go to a certain system where the permit-issuing faction actually gives out the permits, and you can see those permit missions sitting in your "Unobtainable" missions list.

Which leaves only two possibilities: it's like Isinor and is awaiting "future content", or it's a rank-locked system for which no-one has yet obtained the correct rank. If the latter, then either there's a "secret rank" in the Federation no-one has yet attained, or (despite all appearances to the contrary) it's actually an Empire-issued permit.

A third possibility: there's a "lost faction" that issues (or used to issue) the permit. Factions can become locally extinct even in their "home systems", and presumably can become extinct completely, if people work hard at exterminating them. I once had a bounty voucher to claim from the "Traditional LP 245-17 Law Party". So I flew to the LP 245-17 system on the assumption I'd be able to claim my bounty there. No dice; five foreign factions have expanded into the LP 245-17 system and the faction I sought is now locally extinct in the system it's named after. But it is still present in Hecate (which is presumably where I scored the bounty in the first place).

So, where to go from here? Can I suggest:

- Double-checking with Imperials of high rank to make sure that they don't have a Mingfu permit.
- Flying to every star system within 15 LY of Mingfu, looking for either:
- Factions with "Mingfu" in their name, or
- Missions to pick up a Mingfu permit, sitting in the "Unobtainable Missions" tray of local bulletin boards.

If both of those turn up as dead ends, then it's safe to assume that it's a "future content permit" and we'll get it when we get it. Or it's a bug.

Has anyone managed to acquire the Mingfu permit yet?

I've checked Mingfu just after each of the last few patches. It's still permit locked. I haven't been through the nearby systems to see if the permit is on offer for a while though.
