MINI DLC's???

DLC is honestly killing a lot of games for me. If they do DLCs my wallet (and more what's actually in it...[mouth shut]) wouldn't like it very much. Because I'm a kind of person who wants it ALL, while maybe not even needed ...having thiss really poor self-control and passion for collecting stuff! [tongue]

Expansion packs though, are the way to go for me!

A while ago I did have a promotional idea where parks can work with the developers to deliver content that requires players to actually visit the park. Lets say you want a perfect recreation of the Alton Towers entrance, at the park you could request a code from either the entrance, gift shop or scan a QR code to redeem the content. That way, the park benefits from potentially new visitors, the devs receive attention from regular guests and the players can get something special while also learning how actual parks operate. Chances are Alton Towers would be out of the question since Merlin rarely get involved with anything other than direct sponsorship, but there's a good chance other parks would agree to this.
It would be complex and potentially costly to develop and organize, but it's better than straight up microtransactions.

Will happily pay £20-25 for a proper, well developed expansion pack

Considering the full game is £19.99 on pre-order I would be willing to pay £14.99 for a decent expansion. I have never done a micro-transaction but have bought expansions for some of my favourite games.

@simbad - isnt that the discounted price? its $50 at full price so I would assume a full expansion could be priced at $30 or 40 even (sorry too lazy to do the euro equivalent) [tongue]

I'm on the fence about this subject, but I think I would prefer larger full expansions, and not mini add-ons... with UGC hopefully we wont need a lot of "scenery" type add-ons we just need bigger full on gameplay additions, like pools and game stalls!

I wish people would stop calling add-ons "DLC" when the full game is downloaded content. Sure there will be physical copies, but the add-ons will probably be DLC... its just a matter of their content vs their price, and knowing Frontier I think well be fine [up]

Yep, I agree with you creaper. I think it's important to distinguish between "free DLC" and "paid mocrotransactions" if you will. Personally I am all for the idea of free DLC as it gives choice and it can be fun to browse through libraries of free content and download stuff as you please, of course I'd rather everything came in one package to start with. Paid for content on the other hand- not so keen on that- I'd rather not have to pay for something extra in a game that I've already paid for unless it's an expansion pack that adds more functionality rather than just content.

How many of you have played RCT3 before? How many of you have downloaded all the free downloadable Custom Scenery or how we call it now UGC, which are in fact no other than DLC's without need of a payment. A lot of you us "play" RCTW or Parcitect too. we download all the little content packages here and there, because they are free. But in fact there are nothing different as Mini-DLC's. Something you maybe think over?

I think these are two separate discussions worth having. You are talking about free dlc, but must of us are thinking of extra content you pay for. Let's be honest those are the most common ones. I personally would want ONLY add ons like we had with RCT3. Real Expansions. Most DLC nowadays however is these pointless bling bling downloads with not much use except changing the look of things. The worst DLC is stuff that should have been in the Game, but they sell it to you separately to make more cash. DLC in a full-price Game is something I have grown to hate. Thank you for your attention.

There seems to be a misunderstanding. UGC are NOT DLC in the traditional sense. We are talking about official stuff.
