Mini DLCs

I'd be more than happy to shellout some more money for mini-DLCs while waiting for the release of larger DLCs. Save larger DLCs for themes and new gameplay, and release some mini DLCs consisting of flat rides, tracked rides, water rides, coasters, and new skins for existing coasters and future content.

For example: Mini DLC #1- $4.99 USD
* new coaster skins per coaster type.
* three new flat rides
* three new tracked ride skins
* one new coaster or water ride.

I personally disagree and seeing the first DLC (those 3 go-cart skins) made me really disappointed back then.

Wish they would have gone for the big expansionpack route like in rct3.

Does anybody really believe that Frontier can be convinced to do something because "we offer money"?

I want a DLC that fixes all missing walls and roofs. Fixing as in, why is a wall available with a certain texture and it's not with other textures?

But I would most definitely not pay for it.

I don't want mini-DLC's. I'm fine with the current strategy regarding DLC's, but I'm not willing to pay for coaster skins.

But I do want DLC's to contain more rides.

Mini-DLC with coasters and flat rides?

Especially coasters, but also flat rides, take a lot of work, so I personally would think that it would be the other way around; mini-DLC with themes (one per DLC) and bigger DLC with gameplay, rides and coasters.

The current DLC are fine by me, since they feature a good (imo) mix of new rides and themes, and a lot of the new gameplay is free, not part of a DLC.

If I recall correct it takes 2 months to make a single flat ride. (I guess there could be some overlaps) so.. it would be the opposite, as Joël said.

IMHO I prefer large DLC over tiny money grabber DLC's. So I prefer the larger packs over the tiny 3 packs we got at first. Delorean, kitt, dragula. I bought them because I am always a sucker but I have hardly used any of them! Finally used some when I did a fallout style wasteland junkyard one time.

But really, anything they release I buy because I am a sucker! :D Maybe if it is 100% sports I won't buy. "maybe" keyword. ;)

I don't think the OP was thinking about smaller dlc's as a whole. Just something small in the middle of the quarterly dlc's while waiting for the next dlc. Sometimes those 3 months feels like it takes forever. Maybe the smaller dlc will help generate some funds to help the bigger dlc. And it's not like you're compelled to buy it, unlike loot boxes and other microtransactions crap.

Definitely not. I like the current process. It gives a player time to get used to all the objects and understand how they all fit in.

To me as well, mini DLCs start encroaching on the world of micro transactions. Which I hope we can all agree are just bloody awful.

i have to agree.
For me every 3 months is often enough. Adding 6 rides for a “mini dlc” would be a heck of a lot of work and they would have to charge more then 4.99.

You know, I didn't even think of that but you guys put into perspective that mini-DLCs would probably profit more if it was solely a theme, and nothing more. But with the new Thememaker Tool Kit coming out this year I do hope that future DLC packs focus more on just rides, new gameplay elements, and new management abilities.

The one thing I would love to see most is more varieties in coaster trains, especially with the RMC and wooden coasters, as well as more coaster elements. There's so much more content Frontier could create to keep Planet Coaster's lifespan running for at few more successful years.

But yes, I can see and agree that mini DLCs focusing on rides and new skins would not only be unappealing to players, but it would be a loss of investments and resources on the franchise and the developers for spending months and hundreds of hours creating the design and mechanics of the rides for the game, and then only making a small percentage of profit off the work.
