Proposal Discussion Mini Games

If there were mini what would you like to see.

My favorite would be :

You dock at a space station for some R&R, go to the local arcade, and choose from a series of games to play from what the locals have to offer.

You choose an archaic vector graphics game called " Elite ", you insert coin and start to play, but at the first jump into hyper space you dragged into witch space - a Thargoid force attack's, if you win - in real life you win credits.

If this happens again - the mission gets a little harder...

Ideas ???

Would be nice having access to a game of chess, while travelling in hyperspace or at a station. Or perhaps something like Space Invaders :)

It's a question of balance - Resources versus outcome

How much effort should FD put into making mini-games that frankly I see people playing once, maybe twice, then never touching again ? I dunno know, perhaps maybe pilots will want to play ED instead ? :S

Things like this I see as "nice to have" but not essential .. if you really want to play Elite or Frontier why not just play them ?

Because some people want to mimic all real life aspects in the game, like marrige, playing games (in games) etc.

I say if you miss this so much that you want it ingame then you are missing something in real life :D

Frankly, if there were mini games in Elite Dangerous, I certainly do not play. I think I already have enough to do with Elite. But I do not criticize the idea. Each to their own.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Nah, just make the maxi-game better. That's what I want to play, not chess. ;)

As I recall, this was discussed at Lavecon too and the short version was ED should be so much fun that you'd not want to play a minigame... I am personally not 100% convinced that this will be the case. I.E. if I am exploring a system, then I'd expect a decent amount of 'down time' whilst I am looking for points of interest... If this is the case, then that's what music / books / ipads etc are for I guess :)

That's what the second/third screen is for...

When I play oolite I'm always watching something and playing something else on my other screens...

A game within a game, other games have done this Star Craft 2 comes to mind as the newest game I saw it in. I don't play the game in a game and think the time made to make it would have better spent on one extra mission.

What I would like to see, is an alcove closed off with a sign over it reading words to this effect:

Frontier Development is proud to announce their newest game in the Elite Series coming soon (tm).

No thanks - I'd rather the resources and effort went into making the main game better than in mini-games.

I'm not against mini games but like casino, poker etc.
Mini games must be well balanced and must not replace the main activities for getting credits

Let's make minigames an extra module to be bought after planet-landing and FPS-exploring have been completed. :D

So we see if people put their moneys where their mouth was.

Oi, it can just be like 5$, eh? not a full fledged DLC for 19.99$...

Nah !!! just throwing in some ideas - I guess at the end of the day - I really agree with those that say - just concentrate on the game.
