Mini-Golf

After playing the Alpha and realizing the extent at which the scenery can be manipulated and the detail that went into this game I've realized one of the perfect "rides" for this game, Mini Golf. Mini golf would be a great addition to this game as well as very easy to do, much like the one from the earlier game. I would say that major changes to the actual hole would be difficult but preset pieces that could be slightly modified would be perfect with all the scenery and buildings you could put into the mini golf course you build. I spent many vacations at the beach and remember the great big mini golfs with highly extensive scenery and I believe players would enjoy building their own course within their park.

I agree! I've grown up spending lots of time at smaller parks of the minigolf/go-kart variety and would love to build an over-the-top version in the game. Besides, the scenery and landscaping tools are quite impressive and minigolf would be a natural fit.

However, if I recall correctly, the way this was implemented in rct3 was not very remarkable and I never used it. I think they would have to offer a nice variety of holes or, better yet, a set of tools to create your own holes to make it worth while. At that point it almost becomes irresistible to want to include a mini-game that would allow you to actually play your little golf course, wouldn't it? I've already seen people suggest a driving mini-game for go-karts and think the same concept applies here.

Also, since we've already created the animations and game-mechanics in the above scenario, you might as well just go the extra mile and allow for the creation of full sized courses as well to really sell the whole 'resort' concept. I would be basically throwing money at Frontier if they included this in a mini-golf/golf expansion or resort expansion! But I certainly wouldn't expect it as part of the base game so it may be a while…

I don't think that Minigolf is a proper theme park attraction, but of course I wouldn't mind having it in the game. With the current scenery system decorating it would be a blast. But seriously, who would "waste" their time on Minigolf, when there's a coaster right next to it?

Already suggested, but a big +1

Any "Tracked rides" (like minigolf, labyrinth, gokart, scenic rides, etc... ) are the best because they are funnier to place than simple flatrides. [up]

No comment ... [rolleyes]

Why? I don't know about different countries, but over here in Germany we have Minigolf courses in basically every other city (and I'm not talking about the big ones). Why should I spend an hour to play Minigolf in a theme park when I can do it all the time at home?

I usually think mini-golf is lame for theme parks, I have seen them at real parks though, and it blows my mind that people actually pay the extra fee, like why isn't it free if you already paid to enter the park? LoL there is this really cool minigolf by my house that offers an all day pass for $5 and its a great little course with some really well designed shots.

One day I built a really cool golf course in RCT3 with stairs and tunnels and I thought it was pretty cool. I was mad I couldn't walk through it in first person. If they have golf in Planet Coaster, it should actually be playable. Like a mini game. How cool would that be, I would totally make a park soley for Go-Karts, Golf, Arcades and Batting cages like this place near my house. But mini-golf needs to have bigger hole designs, they only had like 3 in RCT3(straight, curved, and zig zag)

Just think about it, and I sure you can understand what's wrong.
I mean, check how many rollercoasters you can find in any Disney parks arround the world, compared to flat/thrill/tracked/scenic rides.

Everyone does not seek the same thing in a theme park.
A theme park welcomes everyone, of all ages, with different desires.

Anyway, we are in a video game here, where the "fun to play" is the most important, and this kind of "tracked rides" are perfect for this kind of game, because it's much more fun to place, to trace the "course", than all the flat/thrillride we actually have in the game right now, which are never unique because we create nothing (We put the ride on the floor, we choose the entry, the exit, and it's over)

This is why we find maze, golf or gokart, in the RCT serie.

I don't want to build rollercoasters, rollercoasters and only rollercoasters. (we already have "No Limits 2" for that)
But I want to build the perfect theme park, with all kind of rides.

I'm not disagreeing on the "gameplay part" of that. As I said, decorating a Minigolf course would be great fun. It definitely adds more to the game than the majority of the other flatrides together.

But in real life I would never play Minigolf in a theme park. Theme parks aren't that cheap. I'd rather use my time to do things, that I can't do outside of them. And in my region, finding a Minigolf course isn't that hard of a challenge. You basically have to go out of your way to avoid them.

Yeah, I understand what you are saying, and you are right : mini-golf, maze and karting are things we do not find in themepark (there are exceptions of course but not in most cases). Here, in France, most of the time, mini-golf, maze and karting are dedicated parks/locations.

But the real question is : Does it really matter ?
Personally I don't care about "absolute realism", or if I can find a minigolf in my favorite theme park in real life, because if I want to make a indoor space themed minigolf just because it's fun, I want Frontier gives me the right to do it !

So : gameplay and fun before the realism [yesnod]

I have seen golf, mazes and go-karts at multiple theme parks, it is absolutely realistic

These are all the things I'm hoping that will make it into the game! ^_^

(we've already seen go-karts I know, but mini golf and mazes would be an awesome addition too!)

Yes, if we eventually have the ability to build more detailed custom mini-golf courses (or even full sized golf courses for our 'resorts') it would be a blast to actually be able to play them as a mini-game.

At the level of detail and complexity that Frontier is achieving here, I don't think it would be a big stretch to include something along the lines of Mario-golf or Mario-kart as mini-games.

If we're only talking about parks like Disneyland, I see your point, but I think Planet Coaster will be able to accommodate a large variety of 'park types'. While it will certainly be fun to work on mega-theme parks where guests wait in line 2 hours for each ride, I think some really fun and beautiful things will be possible while building much smaller, more unique, or even niche parks. Cypress Gardens was a very famous 'proto-themepark' in the States that had no roller coasters to my knowledge, but was a beautiful series of botanical gardens connected by canals. Guests would be ferried around in small boats reminiscent of Disneyland's Jungle Cruise (except the animals were real). In addition to the gardens, canals, and live animals, they also featured famous water skiing stunt shows, pretty girls dressed like Southern Belles, and a carousel. If they didn't have minigolf, I'll bet there was one nearby! This was the way it was in 1950's and 60's. I guess in more recent years they did add some roller coasters and apparently now it's becoming a new Legoland (thanks wikipedia).

While it would certainly be 'retro' I think a more low-key park like the classic Cypress Gardens in Planet Coaster would be incredible and minigolf would be a perfect fit there.

On that same note, where I grew up there was small 'amusement' park originally built in the 50's in the style of Coney Island. In fact, there were quite a few of these parks in America and it was very common to see minigolf next to a wooden roller coaster in these types of parks.

I guess all I'm getting at is that not every park has to be Disneyland or a high-intensity thrill park.
