Horizons Minimum jump range for Maia run ?

25 lyrs ish is a reasonable guide for comfortable progress, but I don't think a minimum exists, because you can get there by plotting economical routes that are very short distance.

But yes, a fuel scoop helps greatly. You can dispose of it at Alcazar's Hope, a planetary port in Merope, if you wish.

There is a band of brown dwarfs and T Tauri stars on the way out there, in the Hyades Sector I think. So another bit of advice is to take every opportunity to top off at a scoopable star. I've made runs out there with the Cobra III I linked above, a mining Keelback, and a fully laden Type-7, and there's been a couple times where my fuel got under 1/2 a tank because of consecutive non-scoopable stars. It's nothing to worry about if you're fueling every chance that presents, but don't be like "Oh I'll fuel up at the next one".

You can turn off the L type stars and make sure that apply to filter is checked. its in the drop down menu on the galaxy map. L type are Brown dwarfs. Just make sure you have at least a 26 LY jump range so you will be able to skip them in the route plotting

If you're planning on hanging around out there (here) for a while, I'd suggest taking a slow (economical) route, stick an ADS in your ship (maybe a DDS too) and scan all the systems (+ maybe the star and anything else you can scan with minimal effort) and you'll make a few million in exploration data on the way -- a useful way of quickly getting your local faction rep up for better paying missions while you're out there.

Maia is only 383Ly from Sol, and for maybe 150Ly of that distance you're still in the bubble. Get a fuel scoop, filter stars to scoopable ones, and you should have no problem - its is my no means either a long or difficult journey. I just took my Corvette back to the bubble for some refitting - 17Ly jump range, takes me 25 jumps (which I can do in about 30 minutes).

Do keep in mind that that outfitting is not great down here. You might what to think about what you'll be needing, then strip your modules back to storage, and then establish an FOB in a shipyard out here. Takes about 1 hour to ship modules from Jameson's, IIRC. I use Sister's Refuge in HIP 16813 as my base, mainly for role play reasons, but its a cool asteroid station.

Finally, you dont need to go all the way to Maia to encounter Thargoids - they just hit Exodus Point in Hyades Sector AB-W b2-2, which is only 250Ly from Sol. The point being, if you want to fight Thargoids, but dont like to travel, the Thargoids are now running a home delivery service...
