Engineers Mining and Missions - Ytrium and Polonium?

Was wondering other than scouring known prospector planets with guaranteed 3-2-1 data in the great-shrubbery hunt for rare mats, can anyone confirm if mining and missions also offer these two fairly rare mats?

I can confirm that I've seen mission reward for polonium when doing long range delivery missions. No idea about mining as have not tried mining 2.1, just pre-horizons.

Anyone seen Polonium via mining? (mission as I said above, I've seen - not common, not super rare, but I'd say 'rare' mission reward. But if you do enough, stack enough missions, can generally get semi consistently where I'd rather go do missions while I build faction anyways and get the odd polonium as well vs scout planets for unknown hours via srv and sometimes get 1-2, sometimes zero. (and this is on planets with known 3-2-1 data. Even knowing it is there, the rng for metallic meteorites plus just the time to drive really sucks the fun out of ED for me)

havent seen any offered by missions, but i only played a little. what got me was having praseodymium as a mission reward, which would be cool if it wasn't from a mining mission

Since 2.1 I've done a fair bit of mining in my cutter but haven't seen any Yttrium or Polonium, although I've only mined in a few pristine metallic rings, so if it's available from mining, it may be from a different type.

I've seen Polonium several times as mission rewards, Yttrium only once (so I took it). As far as I can remember it was for an assassination mission to kill a 'defector', but I've no idea what system or state (ie-war) it was in.

Luckily just before 2.1 came in I spent 2/3 days surface prospecting to stack up on rare materials, although I'm starting to get a bit low on a few now (Yttrium).

As Skurvenyzmrd said, ironic that you get Praseodymium as a mining reward, also seen Osmium etc. I guess whoever designed that mission didn't wear their logic hat that day...

I haven't found Polonium on any planet since 2.1, from a previous thread it seems that some do still find it on planets and some don't. I've had one mission for (1) Polonium which I took.

I know, as well as Deciat 7B, and Eta Draconis A7 just to name couple popular prospecting planets. But that wasn't my question or thread ask - lots of other threads on topics of where to prospect and how.

What I was wondering is if there exists viable missions/mining alternatives to getting these two particularly obstinately rare mats. For polonium, as I said in OP, I can now get those reliably - even if in low numbers - from missions that I will never, ever hunt via SRV for polonium again. Why? Because with SRV it is becoming a real hateful chore, whereas at least if I do missions - even when I don't score a polonium mission, at least I got some faction rep done.

I am really starting to dislike SRV, which ironically is due to the nature of the frustrating hunt for rare mats. So really looking for alternate means to get Ytrium as polonium I have somewhat got a semi ok means via missions.

I like to mine from time to time, so was hoping that even if rare, that we could get all rare mats, including Yt and Po via mining, but I guess so far that doesn't seem the case.

I found two Polonium on Shinrarta Dezhra 1A in the space of five minutes, then nothing more for hours.

I haven't but I did get 10 Yttrium from farming the barnacle, that's by far the most efficient way of getting hold of it.

I found polonium on Heilelang 3 after a tip in another thread.

Sorry OP I know this thread isn't about giving locations. I have only seen 1 missions with polonium none for yttrium.

Where does Polonium spawn? Metallic meteorite, outcrop or those other things?

I get Yttrium from metallic meteorites. Takes some time to find a planet that spawns the right metallic meteorites, but since I found one getting Yttrium isn't that hard anymore - time consuming, but doable.

To the OP: I've seen Polonium and Yttrium as mission rewards.

The one I found last night spawned in a outcrop. The ones that make 2 distinct lines on the scanner (not mesoderites)
