Newcomer / Intro Mining Area Near LHS3447

Kremainn is close to LHS3447, right? I think it's close enough.

Kremainn has multiple ring planets, so there's plenty lot of resource extraction sites (the places where you can mine at) to choose from. It also has a starport nearby those ring planets.

Have a look for prisitine or major reserves metallic rings/sites in the systems view... Other types won't yield as much worthwhile metals.

only go to planetary rings, and stay away from extraction sites. you can drop into any place in the ring, head to the edge of the ring closest to the planet and make sure its dark grey (white ring is ice) and just SC into the ring

There are hundreds of RES in that area.
I live there and travel in these systems frequently, and I've seen more than I bothered to count.

However, if you're looking for Prestine or Major, it's a different story.

You can mine anywhere in a planet's rings - you don't have to go to extraction sites. Extraction sites are areas of established activity, and are therefore populated by NPC's. Some of whom will view a mining ship stuffed with gold as an attractive target.

If you simply go to the rings in an unpopulated part, you are unlikely to be bothered. Although of course, flying your gold (or whatever) back to a starport is also prone to make you a target.

Pristine metallic rings around planets offer the highest chance of valuable metals. AFAIK "metallic" is better than "metal rich" in all circumstances, and planetary rings have a far higher density of mineable rocks than asteroid belts. This meake sit much easier to just keep trying until you find a rock that yields precious metals, which offer by far the highest profit per ton 0 espescially if you sell them to a system where demand is high. Starports that are, themselves, extraction/refining economies won't pay as much...they produce their own.

Hi,
I just mine the item and captured it but after processing what station do I look for to drop it off?
Refinery right?

It depends on what you mine. If you are mining precious metals (the most profitable thing to do) then you sell them at a station where the demand is high. Precious metals command a good price everywhere, but you need to look for an economy that pays th emost for them. AFAIK, that is everywhere except extraction/refinery type economies, because they produce the stuff themselves.

I've always found that agri/industrial/high tech stations pay th emost for precious metals. By that I mean, silver, gold, platinum and palladium. The "industrial" metals are just not worth as much.

On th eothe rhand, if you end up mining minerals then a refinery pays for those, because they refine them. However, if it's a refinery/extraction combo, they pay less...they do their own extracting. But some minerals can still pay off, because they might not have their own reserves of them there.
