Newcomer / Intro Mining - cannot find right asteroids

Hello,

I am new to Elite and already watched a few videos on how to mine, but I still have a big problem: When I jump into a Musgravite hotspot wtih my Adder and 12 prospector limpets, I tested 12 different asteroids and did not find a single one with Musgravite in it. I also mined one fragment from 20 other asteroide to see if any other contains Musgravite, but they only had bauxit and other for me not interesting minerals on it.
Am I doing something wrong or why can`t I find Musgravite asteroids?

I hope you can help me.

Kind regards,
Foxicator

Its all been changed since the vids probably. Pulse Wave Scanner is bugged so fly backwards helps for Cores. RNG in Hospots for that Mineral is increased but doesnt guarantee that mineral or any other even appearing. Like mining in RL a lot of it is finding the vein in the first place...

Assume doing it for a mission if not wanting other stuff? Just keep trying some will turn up. If just for credits just collect anything average 10K or more and youll usually get more anyway.

According to https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteMiner...wiki_where_can_i_find_a_particular_mineral.3F , Musgravite is a Core mineral, to be found in Rocky rings. Unless this has changed recently, your chances of finding a core through randomly peppering rocks with prospectors are small. If you want to improve these chances, you'll need to use a Pulse Wave Analyzer, which is thoroughly bugged at the moment - definitely not recommended for a mining newbie (and any old hands I hear about have given up core mining for the duration).

Laser mining was always more Zen than core mining.
Personally I think laser mining more ZZZZZZZZZZ than Zen. But, it gets the job done.

I keep hearing about this PWA bug but do not seem to be affected by it. While the frequency of core rocks has been low since the botched fix of the LTD exploits, I see glowing rocks at all view angles without special maneuvers like flying backwards. I have noticed that some do not glow until I approach them more closely than I needed to in the past, but I also see some very far off, almost lost in the fog that permeates icy rings. Is there some way reporting my mining loadout and graphics hardware might help shed light on the bug? I have seen reports it might be related to graphics settings.

Pwa is still bugged. Depends on your pov but in vr defo lights up stuff behind or to the side which should be in front.
Core mining is knackered until they fix it or....fly in reverse which l think is daft.
