Horizons Mining has some glitches - anyone else noticed this? Is it a bug?

Hi All,

The collector limpets seem to go into Standby mode even though there are fragments for the to collect. Has anyone else noticed this problem. Seem to apply to regular metallic and ice mining.

Also the refinery bin list doesn't scroll down to the bottom (10 bins).

Asteroid textures keep messing up too.

Every refinery action needs a transaction server handshake, which likely leads to the occasional limpet hangup - not specific to a resource type.

From what I can see in your video there you are scrolling down to the bottom of your bin list, but scroll bars generally are a bit messed up (still showing that it's not at the bottom).

And the mining trail decals on the asteroids sometimes don't rotate along, yes :c

Are your materials full? If they are and those limpets are holding mats then they'll just sit there. You can only scroll down the refinery if those bins contain something. You'll notice on your video the cursor jumps empty bins, so it won't go all the way down if it can't land on a filled bin. I suggested they should move the hopper to the left and show all the refinery bins on the right, but it didn't seem to take.

I mined a fair bit pre 2.1 and never had this problem then... If its a server issue - it needs fixing! Mining has become more and more buggy to the point that this is getting exceedly annoying! Especially with the delay in collecting and the graphic issues too.

By materials do you mean the cargo hold... Errr. No - you'd have to mine for quite a few hours to fill a 600T Cutter hold... Besides, I'd just sold the last lot and was after the Bromellite for Bill Turner. My hold was all but empty (except for 250T of limpets with a good 300t empty). If you mean are the refinery bins all full - again no. The video shows that they are not all occupied to the point that processing stops.
As for the refinery bin scrolling issue - if the last couple of bins are empty - those limpets should be delivering the ore for processing...

I think we meant the engineers materials ie iron, phosphorous etc etc. If you have 1000 you will not be able to load any more and the limpets will just sit there clutching the stuff you cannot store

I think he means the Materials storage. You pickup materials while mining and if your storage is full the limpets can't unload.

EDIT - ^^ what he said :)

EDIT AGAIN - just checked the vid and it does look like your Materials are full

The limpets-going-standby-for-no-reason bug is a known issue, I'm positive I saw it on the bug-report forum, but I can't find the thread right now.

There is a bug where a limpet will sometimes fail to unload, hovering outside the cargo hatch, which can be fixed by moving the ship slightly forcing it to re-calculate its flight path.
But in this particular case the stuck limpet appears to be caused by the materials storage being full.

1:09 - Materials storage screen shows storage full at 1000/1000.
1:55 - Large info message pops up at top right saying "No space for material" and the limpet presumably returning materials stops below the ship, unable to unload.
5:26 - The material being held by the limpet finally degrades to 0% and vanishes, freeing the limpet to go and collect something else.
