Mining Hotspots

Mining hot spots my bum, more like mining notspots.

the last fix and new introduction of extra hotspots has yielded sweet FA,

I have just gone through 3 different material hotspots and used nearly 200 prospector limpets and i did not find one rock that had the hotspot material.

Alexanderite
Grandidierite
Monazite

Not one rock with even 1% in 200 limpets. what a joke.

Come on Fdevs sort yourselves out...…..

Pulse wave scanner required for CORE items...
With out it finding deep core is like 1 in 200,000 rocks... and not normaly possible...
Those are also all Booby prize priced items. you don't want to actualy find them..

Spent 3 hrs in an LTD triple hits spot last night. My pulse wave scanner only picked out 1 potential core in all that time, and that was Bromellite.

While i don't use the pulse wave scanner, i've just been doing regular speculetive mining in the low threat RES point of Borann's A2 planet, just firing prospectors at random asteroids and using my mining laser on any nice one and in regards to finding diamonds, it seems no different than before the changes...

Recently, after about an hour of mining, i'd 8 diamonds, 15 pieces of tritium, about 30 pieces of bromelite and various other pieces.

Which aside from the tritium, again i was getting such amounts before :) ...

P.S, i'm only using a class 1 mining laser, class 3 prospectors and collectors and whatever class refinery can handle five things at once, with about 100 limpets and 230 units of cargo space, in a mixed combat build because of the damn pirates - would higher class equipment make much difference? ...

There seems to be little difference between a class 1 and 2 mining laser for example, both only having 500 metres range :) .

I've had the same experience.

I also tried the pulse wave scanner for a couple of runs and the rocks it highlighted had worthless items in them, so I've switched it out of my build for now.

Seems I am a bit late for the LTD rush. Outfitted my Asp Explorer for deep core mining in the Pegasi Sector (close to Yen Chelici as they buy LTD for 450k and on my first run I gathered 4 units LTD from a hotspot (only brought 15 limpets on my first run because I had no clue what exactly I was doing).

So I filled up my cargo hold with 64 limpets and hoped for the best on my return to the ring and the same hotspot, but all I found was Tritium and greedy as I was I did not bother mining it. I finally spent 64 bloody limpets to find one rock that I got 1 chunk of LTD out. That chunk is 94% in my refinery now and I guess I'll refit my business class cabin and do some passenger/exploration runs for a much better return and surprisingly less boredom.

When I watched the tutorial on mining it looked like a fun occupation, but most time was spent scanning rocks.

If you got any advice (other material to mine for, etc.) that is very welcome!

Up to date Youtube videos that are posted less then 4 days ago has the answer...
Any video older than that is no longer likely valid. so video had to be done after the 3rd
The conclusions are...
VO if you do core hunting.
Painite if you do laser mining.

Ahhh :) Thanks a million!

VO it is then, I don't have the space for profitable Nanite mining :) I mean it is fun blowing rocks up if there is some (halfway profitable) rock to blow up :)

I don't know about all these complaints, it hasn't been my experience. I'm not credit grinding anymore so when I mine it's generally just as break from exploring and often I quit even before filling my 224 ton capacity because I get bored or need to go to sleep.
I've stopped worrying about LTD because it's a bit tough to get a decent selling price so instead I was sitting on a fairly nice double Void opal spot. Basically set up for all forms of mining so that I can take advantage of whatever I find. Collecting only Ltd, VO and tritium IV had consistent good yield. Very casual mining over the course of a week netted me over 720K in VO alone, I haven't even bothered trying to sell the Ltd and I've stocked enough tritium for about 5000 Ly worth of jumps.
Since I got my FC I've covered about 20K Ly in total and I've never felt any concerns regarding fuel.
If you want mining to pay you HAVE to move on from purely Laser mining, that horse is dead. Core and ssd are very much alive though.
Forget LTD for now and focus on VO to earn decent returns. I just sold mine for 1385000 p/ton...
So get a Python, 2 mining lasers, ssd missile, a seismic charge and an ablation blaster. Happy days. 07.

Found an opal Hotspot with more LTD than opal. Not as profitable as what you described, but I made roughly 36 M in about two hours, so I am quite happy :)

Looks like the Hotspots are a bit messed up but it when you ignore the Ltd Hotspots, mining is enjoyable.

It was the same for me, more or less equal VO and Ltd in the overlap. Sometimes the cores being within 3km of each other and usually finding cores within 5 minutes of each other.
