Mining Hotspots

Hi folks.

I have read some info on the hotspot mining. I have a couple of questions. I use my DSS to get the hot spots, if there are multiple of the same, is there any correlation to amount of mineral and size of the hot spot (will the smaller one have more of a concentration or will the larger one have more)? When I use the miners tool to find hot spots, and get to the suggested body and find multiple hotspots, how do I know which hot spots has the listed density from the website? Or does that listed density have anything to do with amount of minerals I can find in that ring? I may be looking at that website wrong, does density just refer to the amount of asteroids in that ring?

Thanks for any info.

I don't think the size of the Hotspot matters much. It's more important to find overlapping hotspots. A double or, even better, a triple hotspot is where you want to mine. Aim for a point where the hotspots overlap.
I'm not entirely sure what the "density" here means, either. Hovering over the number only gives "M, Inner and Outer" 🤷‍♂️ That being said, rule #1 applies: Aim for overlapping hotspots. That's what I have been doing and what has served me well.

Without knowing which website you are using, who knows? ;)

He said which website: Miner's Tool https://edtools.cc/miner

FDev did nerf the overlaps somewhat, unless that’s reverted back, either way I’ve found they still appear to make a positive difference.

One of my Alts was trying to unlock Selene over the past week and was mining Pristine single hotspots in a local system with a T7. Having mined the 500 tonnes not one fragment of Painite was found. To get the 10 tonnes of Painite required I ended up taking them to the well known double hotspot in Hyades Sector DB-X whatever it is.……aaaand, first rock -Painite misery over.

Now I can go back to my self imposed rule of only mining for the relaxing nature of it and sifting through whatever comes my way rather than dealing with notspots and efficiencies.

Thanks for the replies. I will maintain my current procedures then as they are pretty much what you both have stated :)

No, if there's no overlaps they should be consistent within a given ring, allowing for the usual random variation

That density value is for the ring as a whole, not a specific hotspot. Although be aware, there's conflicting opinions as to whether the ring density actually has any effect on mining yield.

Hotspots are very unreliable. Best to go to ones that are known to work. Go to Hyades Sector DB-X d1-112 planet 1 inner ring to mine platinum. It's reliable and very profitable.
