mining .. how to jetson(abondon)

how can I jetson/abandon some cheap minerals to make room for more of the good metals while mining? I have 48T cargo space and more is taken up with the cheap minerals than the good ores.

Just don't to it if you have collector drones out and about, they pick it up and shove it straight back in again. Until they fix this, when using drones, firstly I spend more time in the refinery flushing the stuff I don't wont before it gets to cargo. I also always do the tidy and Jettison after my drones have expired and before I launch the next set, I jettison, boost far enough away so my drones wont go play fetch.
One time I had to close my cargo hatch and run away with two drones chasing me to put the cargo back in hehe. Comical at first but eventually annoying.

I've only found 3 ways to circumvent the drones collecting my jettisoned cargo.

1. Drop a bunch of cargo, and boost a few km away. They'll bring one back (each), but then the remainder are out of range.
2. Dump more than they can carry, then blow away the rest.
3. Wait until they expire, then move a few km away.

I use #1 the most.

You can turn off the module that controls the drones, it kills them. :)

I find if you wait until after you've blown all the fragments out of a rock you want to mine, you can jettison cargo and it won't get picked up till after the fragments, so you can juggle your cargo space that way.
