The best place for mining ice rings is material trader.
Ice rings are the worst type of rings for materials.
However, it makes no difference to material yield whether a ring is pristine or depleted.
Theoretically, metal-rich rings are better than metallic for materials. But FD have managed to break this and make metallic rings far more efficient then metal-rich.
Your best bet is to mine in a pristine metallic ring, so you get maximum profit. Use an A-rated prospector and mine profitable roids plus any high material roids you see.
