Mining in a HazRez - Does anyone do it? And if so what build do you use?

Decided to take my new conda miner out to a haz res, managed to find three asteroids with high painite content (never seen that outside of a res!)

The cut off point for the res bonus is definitely 20k, and its a hard limit - had one roid 500m outside the res it only lasted half the time as the roids I'd been hitting inside the res.

Why would anyone farm any Rez location since it has nothing to do with the drop rate of what you are mining?

Untrue.. check your facts (also read the other comments on this thread, it makes a significant difference)

Yep, my experience too. I've done it for the last 3 nights in my Conda both on my own and in a wing with 3/4 cmdrs. It's great fun in a Wing, we had 2 big ships rigged for mining with heavy ships and then two other ships equipped for fighting (they got the bounties plus the 5% trade dividends). One thing we discovered you can do was to put a single mining laser each on the combat ships (for when you find those really good roids), because everyone gets that 100 fragments of painite in the asteroids. The combat ships can't collect it but they can make more fragments for the collectors. While in a wing we were able to mine right in the middle of the HazRez although it was hectec. However, we discovered that it's not much different in the middle than it is at 18km so basically it seems like anywhere in the 20km is pretty much the same.

We also tried the other varieties of Rez site and the HazRez has by far the biggest fragment bonus. 4 ships with mining lasers makes one hell of a lot of painite.

We even had one brave fairly new player join us with a shieldless Keelback rigged for mining. I thought he'd get in trouble but he was just fine because all the NPCs wanted to do was attack the Conda and the Corvette and they left him completely alone provided he stayed near the big ships.
