Mining Is Still Good Then!

I decided I need a Corvette for AX shenanigans. I had one before, and didn't like it.
I had just enough money to buy the entire ship, and modules, and even had enough for a rebuy or two.
But being pretty pants at AX, I decided I needed just a few more credits to cover the potential rebuy on my shiny new Corvette, should things go south very very quickly, which they often do with Thargoids.

Anyhoo, I haven't mined since 3.3.0, and I earned about 1Bn in a week, then never went back, assuming it would be nerfed in to oblivion.
So I grabbed my mining Anaconda, and set off to my previous VO hotspot.
30 minutes later I had roughly 100m credits worth of VOs and LTDs. Plenty!
But seems I was mining already, why stop there? I carried on mining for another hour, then cashed in. 300m credits earned!

Of course, my crew stole most of this, so I went back to mine for another hour.
Another 250m credits! Which my crew also stole from, despite not being present.

I'd love a job like that.

Anyhoo, so yes. Mining is still brilliant!

I also found out the PWS works from the camera suite. Much nicer view from outside, I can admire my ship, while looking around for core asteroids.

I have my Corvette now.
Now I just need to modify it. Pfft. Lol

yes, Colonia area is best spot ive found for maximum gains for effort

While I don't have a home, my current choice mining stop is one jump from Shinrarta, with a port that pays top price (1.5m per ton) just a short jump away from there (around 10Ly, I think). :)

I'm currently selling VOs in Zeus, at The Midas megaship.
Not only does it have the Midas touch for turning my VOs to credits (1.6m/t). It's a nice change from a starport, it's only 8ls from the star, and if you hang around, you can watch an eclipse. Lol

If you consider that you'd need to get there first, then either take the ship you plan to use there or buy one locally and try to engineer it vs having yours shipped for every bit of profit you could make, the difference in cr/hr probably doesn't justify it.

But if I was already out there or going, I would certainly spend some quality time getting to know my local untapped resources.

I was selling in another system yesterday and the price dropped by more than 50% overnight. Zeus is still paying well but then it doesn't have local rings to support it so perhaps people won't fly that far too often with VOs.

So far "hot spot" tells me "go away". I fill my ship with VOs in random areas much faster. This is especially true with rings with zero hotspots.

Odd, I routinely find VOs in my hotspot, like clockwork, every few minutes.
Sometimes it's an LTD core though, but they're still valuable.
But then I never drop in the centre of a hotspot, I usually plonk myself 2-5Mm away.

Did it with VR tonight, easier to see the peripheral signals. Those stupid bits that get stuck in the asteroid claim every limpet, like the limpets just decide to lemming themselves into the rock over and over while multiple other targets are available because that one is next on the list.

I only had one actually inside the rock, all the others I could scoop up myself.

Yeah, the odd fragment sometimes gets nudged inside the rocks.

But I'm actually surprised at how well limpets can pathfind now.
The only time I lose some is when the fragments go inside the rock, or rolls along the surface. I usually just nudge the latter with my Anacondas nose.

Mining is very good now. FD have made a fairly basic activity into an engaging game and a well paid job.

I had to work a year to get my Corvette.
Money is so easy these day, they could give everybody a starting capital of a few billion and one would hardly notice.

Im just finding my feet in mining, and while researching something bumped into a post on reddit eliteminers...

There's some really interesting research going on there for anyone interested.

They communicate in text in that subreddit so its okay.

Looks like the concept has progressed further than the youtube basics, some outlier best systems have been found (overlapping hotspots) and some good ideas to think about while exploring for hotspots.

At one point during frontiers labotomization of the mission board, they killed the local exploration game to find the best stations for mission types.. looks like its back on for mining reserves, im pretty excited.

Mining VO is bonkers.
I did quite some mining in the olden days (scooping yourself and PPP) and made roughly 300m in a +-4yr period.
Now my highest single transaction stands at 450m+
REDICULOUS!

but love it! ^^

I love mining. The payouts feel like they're worth the effort.

Incidentally, my Corvette got blown up by a pair of Basilisks. Lol

Luckily, I can take that 38m credit loss.

I also fired two of my 3 crew. I fired the most ugly ones. Lol
Now I only lose 9% of my income!
