Newcomer / Intro Mining laser: How to get it?

Just 3 hours in so far. I'm quite a newbie. I've searched postings here and so far I've not seen a post describing how to get a mining laser. While I may have missed it, I'd like to rephrase the for future ease of search for the next newbie.

How does one outfit a mining laser?
Where (system, outpost/ port?) to get it?

Safe to assume that all newbies start with Sidewinder. Thanks in advance!

Will be great if someone can provide a step-by-step instruction (brief as possible)

Umm I can't say a system specifically, but generally I think you will find them at stations in 'Extraction' systems.

Just look for systems on the galaxy map near by which are Extraction systems. Goto a station there, then goto the Outfitting section once docked.

They will be in the same place where you fit new weapons to your ship.

ok here is step by step

you need to purchase a mining laser
it goes on a weapon hardpoint - the reason you need this should be self explanatory

you need a refinery
it goes in a internal compartment - this is so you can refine the raw debris you knock out of the asteroid
The amount of materials you can refine (# of hoppers) at one time is directly related to the cost of the refinery
note that when you are mining, each rock will likely have 2 minerals/metals in it and they only form a small percentage of full ton of it
after you do this the hopper is emptied and a full ton is put in your cargo hold

Where to mine
look for ringed planets with a metallic belt, then warp into it (the ring) on the sunny side (of the planet) and as far away from all the resource extraction sites as possible
this is because the main point for RESs are pirate hunting not mining and if you mine at a RESs you will be mercilessly attacked by pirates.

also note that mining minerals is usually not as profitable as metals, and the best thing you can find is platinum. i'm sure that you can fill in any parts i left out (unintentionally) through some searching on the Elite Dangerous Wiki

The first thing I would say to any cmdr who's thinking of trying out mining is to wait until they can afford a refinery with two bins!
Using a single-bin refinery is really slow and tedious enough to put you off mining for life.
Also don't risk mining without a shield as some of those asteroids spin quite fast and have weird shapes. You should also always use your spotlight on your ship to locate the asteroids.

I suppose to also add another point that mining lasers are available at space stations... Like big BIG ones and that they are that of high tech.

Thanks for the steps. The question was still fundamentally "where to get the mining laser". It is easy to just say get it. Not all places you can dock have the mining lasers.
