Mining / limpet question

If you do dispose of excess limpets using the wrong command just add limpets to your ignore list to stop them being returned.

I have a mining laser in my current build mapped to trigger 2 which is on one of the rotary controls on my throttle so I can just start it going until the rock is depleted, the collectors on the fire button works great.

The only problem with that is that I found they generally stop what they are doing and pick up the limpets even if there are ore chunks. Because the dumped limpets are closer.

Add to ignore list, remove from ignore list once chunks are collected if you want to retrieve them. You can also fly away from them. Limpets pick targets as they offload, I think the timing is such that they wont immediately pick up the tossed cargo that makes room for their drop-off, but the next active limpet incoming will.

Also keep in mind that the refinery is a cargo hold itself, only for unrefined materials. So before ditching your limpets, let the refinery fill up and if chunks are still left floating around, than jettison limpets one by one, so that the refinery can refine one bin into the cargo hold and free up refinery space for the new raw material. When your cargo hold is finally full with materials, let the last limpets fill up the refinery, or scoop the stuff yourself. When you sell the refined stuff later and free up cargo, the refinery will finish the raw materials, from which you can get up to one additional million credit eventually.

I found it easier to scoop myself with the right ship and only carry a small prospector controller and no collector. I was using a Keelback for a while which was fun. Every time you boost it sounds like it’s about to rattle apart which is atmospheric. Now I’m using a Krait Phantom as my dedicated mining ship (the Phantom engine/boost audio is awesome). I generally only have tine for an hour or two of game time and usually fill the hold with 3-4 core blasts and then scoot off to the nearest high paying station to sell. I only have mining equipment and no weapons so have to haul a** if bad guys show up but so far have always been able to outrun them.
