Mining methanol monohydrate

Hi. Stacked a couple of missions to mine this, so as to help get my Empire rep up.

Picked an icy ring and took 64 limpets. A bit later, I have 18 tonnes of crystals. Void Opals are easier to come by.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, since experience has told me that it's bound to be something I'm doing.

Cheers.

If you're in a combat-worthy Ship or are willing to go "stealth mining", Mining these things in a HighRES or HazRES is very beneficial due to the yield Bonus in these locations.

- either stick to an area 15-20km from the Hi/Haz-RES center and keep a very close eye on the scanner
- or pack big Shields and ideally an SLF to deal with positive NPC scans

Due to apparently increased NPC Scan Ranges (upto 14km observed in V3.3), sticking to the outer edges of a RES may or may not work anymore though, unsure about that.
Pristine Reserves is really what you'll indeed want though, there's no way around that.
Yields in Icy Rings are low enough as is, no point in wasting time in non-Pristine areas.

In short, your "Methanol Monohydrate Crystal" motherlode will typically have 20%-30% Primary ore. That'll yield approx. 4-6tons outside of a RES, approx. 8-12tons in a High/HazRES (inside 20km from RES center) per such an Asteroid.
Unsure how useful the new toys are in respect to respective Surface and SubSurface Deposits (there's no Methanol Monohydrate cores). I only do freelance Core Mining for high-value ores.

Thanks. Just heading to one.

I also notice that you to seem to have to get the full lot in one go, rather than being able to do it a bit at a time like with delivery missions.
