Mining needs a little rework... the pirate parade is awful.

I decided to switch over to a mining setup so I could do something relaxing instead of chasing wanted idiots all over the systems. I get my rig and head out to one of my favorite spots and begin to mine, all by my lonesome. Before you know it, a ship shows up and scans me, says something rude and attacks me. This gets repeated over and over again untill I decide to bug out. I must have killed at least 10 of them before I called no joy. I was all alone in the system, then they came out of the woodwork like cockroaches. All NPC's... this needs adjustment.

I know this is not the solution you are looking for, but a buddy and I go to a mining spot together, He gets to mine, while I fly overwatch. It is really nice, because of the very problem you mentioned. Mining sites are known nasty sports for pirates.

No that is not a solution to the problem, I can see a couple stray pirates comming along, but not a entire fleet of ships like they do now. It needs to be toned down a little or alot.

When you reach your mining destination, don't jump out of supercruise at a locked target; fly off a bit, unlock your target and jump out someplace more remote. The risk of getting found is almost non-existent.

Makes perfect sense...

If you were a pirate and you knew of a location in a system where miners were known to frequent wouldn't you haunt the place to bag some easy pickings off a fat hauler type?
And if one pirate knew about it it certainly follows that others would also.

Where were you mining?

I prefer to stick to planetary ring systems away from extraction sites.

It was a remote anarchy system, and when I got there I was the only ship in the system. As soon as I started collecting ore, it triggers a script and started spawning pirates, a endless stream of them.

I had been mining for 5 days now and I don't feel this issue. There are pirates comming in every half an hour or so and after I kill them rarely come an other one before I fill my cargo hold it just makes mining more fun for me. Fighting pirates at planet rings is much more interesting than fighting them in deep space without any obstacles.

So you were mining at an extraction site? Than that was the problem , that place is for hunting pirates. :)

Pirates aren't the problem with mining (jump to another belt). The problem with mining is that even at a pristine Metallic site you're going to be only making more money per hour than explorers.

Im not going to argue about this, I feel like I'm still Beta/Gamma Testing. Just pointing out a problem, hopefully the devs will notice. Im done here.

Where? Sounds like a great place to farm pirates =)

If you go to one of the most dangerous systems in the galaxy, you should expect to be attacked. Try mining in a faction system and you'll find it much safer and peaceful - I've been mining for many hours without any problems in a hauler with a mining laser - no weapons at all. I only saw a pirate once, and the system police came out and killed her before I'd even identified her as a threat. You just might need to search a bit to find a good belt (I found one not many lightyears from my starting system, so it isn't that hard).

Was it a Pristine mining area? I have never been attacked by pirates in High or Common only Pristine belts. I gave up mining in Pristine as I had to defend against no less than 8 pirates in 15 minutes, sometimes 2 attacked at the same time. At least I know where to go to farm pirates now if bounties are working.

Oya, I forgot to mention, not one of those pirates had a wanted sign on them, so no award was given for killing them, after all I was in a anarchy system where all is fair game. No soup for me after wacking 10 of them, just a ammo re-load bill. :(

'SOLO MODE' *closed quotes*

This is about NPCs >__________>

Pirates in anarchy systems attacking lone miners sounds like Working As Intended to me. Like one of those scenes where the character falls down a hole with a diminishing light source, as pairs of eyes appear all around them.
