Newcomer / Intro mining question

so I bought a refinery and mining lasers but i'm slightly confused. I started collecting uraniite or whatever its called and refined it and it doesnt show up in my inventory and cannot refine more than that material when I collected more
Do I have to wait for like a certain time period or something?

Sounds like you have a cheap refinery with only one refinery bin. If you buy one with 4 bins, you can mine for 4 different metals or minerals at a time. You have to choose which one to refine ane which to discart (vent). When one of them reaches 100%, you will have 1t of it in your cargo bay.

if you only have one bin in your ref and pick up a chunk that consists of 2 types of ore you need to assign one to the bin and vent the other.
