Mining Scanner vs Prospector Limpet Controller...

Just pondering how nice it would be to have a Mining Scanner in one of the utility slots to scan the content of asteroids vs having a Prospector Limpet Controller which ends up wasting 1/2 my limpets when mining for specific things.

Your thoughts?

I would like them to extend the expiration period that applies to collectors to the prospectors. You would only ever need 1 prospector, launch it, and when you direct your ship at a roid, the prospetor goes to it. Once you have your info on the roid, you mine it (or not) and then when you move to the next roid, the prospector leaves the first roid and then heads to the next roid you approach. You only need to launch a new prospetor after the one you are using expires. This makes them like a short lifespan scanning tool, reuable for a period of time determined by the A-E rating of your controller purchase.. I think the logical extension/progression is the mining scanner you mention.....

I too would like a Mining Scanner as i also wast 50%+ of my limpet supply when using a prospector (as instructed)
I Now use a scratch & Sniff approach to mining i.e.
use mining lasers to extract two samples from a roid see if there's anything i want in those first two samples if there's nothing move onto next roid
if they contain what i am looking for i then deploy the prospector & mine the roid as normal

It seems that the prospector limpet still provides the extra lumps of roid as if i had deployed it before starting the extraction process

The whole implementation of mining needs seriously redressed, and your idea of a mining scanner dovetails into a more complete set of features, so I hope it gets implemented.
