Newcomer / Intro Mining ship loadout?

Going to try out the mining aspect of the game. Any recommendations for a ship and load out? From my reading I believe that there are robot drones that collect the fragments for you, are these a good investment?

Hey Ruger,

Have a play with: http://www.edshipyard.com/

It's a great little ship building tool. Even lets you see cost, power usage and many other stats. I've exported by build below for you...

Limpets are cool. They cost 100cr each and last for about 12 mins. They will collect any and all chunks of whatever you blast off an asteroid with your mining laser. They do take up cargo space, so balance that against your collection. As you launch one it frees up space in your cargo slots for whatever it collects. They will dump this in your refinery and smelt it into a ton of whatever once you've collected enough.

Just don't forget to buy (armaments) some before you head out into the black :)

I personally use an Adder for mining -

[Adder]
M: 2D/F Mining Laser
S: 1F/F Pulse Laser
S: 1F/F Pulse Laser

BH: 1I Lightweight Alloy
RB: 3B Power Plant
TM: 3D Thrusters
FH: 3B Frame Shift Drive
EC: 1D Life Support
PC: 2A Power Distributor
SS: 3D Sensors
FS: 3C Fuel Tank (Capacity: 8)

3: 3E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 8)
3: 3C Refinery
2: 2E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 4)
2: 2A Shield Generator
1: 1A Collector Limpet Controller

Cheers

I think we are going to have to agree to disagree :p I think selecting modules from a. Drop down list is just as fast regardless of the format but I prefer the way that coriolis splits it more clearly into the different subgroups and separates out the various sections of information. (Which in my mind also makes it easier to identify the particular information youre looking for as they both display the same basic information on the same page..... )

edit:

though unlike shipyard yard coriolis can also directly compare various builds for various ships you make side by side.... So you can actually make an easier decision for example on the benefits of taking either one build over another or even different builds on different hulls. Overall I think it's just a more advanced and enter finished product.... Shipyard with the rough edges taken off.

My T6 has a cargo of 64, two mining lasers, a one drone Prospector Controller, a two drone Collector Controller, chaff launcher, point defence, ECM (yeah, I am paranoid and want to get away from pirates what can I say). Sorry, I don't have it on edshipyard.
