Mining shut down?

Is mining completely shut down?

I've been mining for two nights straight now. Tried pristine, tried low, tried Eddb, tried pure luck, prospected probably a hundred asteroids.

NONE had fissures.

NONE had valuables inside.

Only water and methanol.

Am I doing something wrong?

as people mine, its gonna run out. meaning we will have to travel further to find some.
plus they are changing the way they generate to prevent people using the cheat to find them. which is good :)

Honestly we should've been able to blow up ANY asteroid, rare mats or not, but I guess it's a bit late for that.

Were you using wave scanner? And have you dropped into a hotspot?
To have none is almost impossible. I mined four days ago and things were normal.

its possible the place you were mining has been depleted by miners before you
the game does actualy keep track of how much resources are left in a ring.
but it can take months for it to hit 0

You can activate the pulse in external camera mode for Massive amount of rock scans... internal view is not needed till you go to high light a specific likely rock...
Deep core mining is the same as normal did a load yesterday in an explorer phantom... as a quick mess about... while scanning systems as well...

Frontier implied that they would, but the consensus over on the mining subreddit is that there is no long-term depletion of hotspots. Since the game does track exploded astroids, it's possible to run out in a local high-traffic area, such as around an asteroid base or at the center of a hotspot. But as far as anyone can tell, the exploded 'roids reset after several days (exact period uncertain) and there is no long-term decrease in the number that are crackable.
