I like mining but few things change when you get a new ship as you only get more cargo space and more limpets to control and as mining lasers are limited to only class 2 theres no new mining tools for better ships so I was thinking why not add a new mining "weapon" which is mounted on the class 3 and 4 hardpoints which is basicly a mining drone type of weapon
So with prospector limpets they are fired and attach to the asteroid this new weapon would work in a similary way as you aim your weapon on the asteroid and fire of a drone which attaches to the asteroid and drills into it and when its done it gives a few tonnes of ore
So you would use this weapon with the the normal mining tools and you would still get the ore chunks as you normally do with your limpets but when the ore chunks run out you can fire your new weapon on the asteroid or during while you mine the ore chunks and the drone would drill into the asteroid and get more ores from the same asteroid
So you would get prospector ore chunks + drone drill ores and the amount of ores you would get from the drone drill depends on the class and rating
So the class is 3 and 4 and the ratings can go from A-E so a class 4A would give you alot of ore
Also there can only be 1 active drone drill per hardpoint and its only 2-6 ammo and only a maximum of 3 drills can be used on the same asteroid
