Mining Suggestions

OK, I've taken up mining for the current CG, I don't do it often, so I may be just doing it totally wrong.
I've gone to a pristine metalic ring, and my results are still pretty awful. So.
Here are some ideas to make mining less mind numbingly weird.

•Add a scanner for scanning rings.
- it can work in SC, while traveling slowly(less than 100km/s), and will give you a basic breakdown of roughly the % of goodies within a certain range, and in front,(not far, so you have to skim across the surface, until you find a good spot!)
It can still be random, like the current limpet system, but once you find a good area to mine, and drop in, you'll get more good asteroids consistent with your scan.
That way, if you're looking for a particular ore, you no longer have to go from rock to rock checking them all.
-And/Or-
A scanner similar to the SRV, which you can either filter to find the ore(s) you're looking for. (But that pretty much removes the need for prospecting limpets.) Or just have it show everything and you need to learn what the noises and things mean, like on the ground.

•Add an auto-vent filter to the refinery, so it can ditch all those pointless ores you don't want or need, without having to stare at it the entire time.

•Filters for what collector limpets will and won't collect. ( so you can dump stuff and not have them pick it straight back up again!)

I think that's it for ideas.
Thoughts?

Maybe a mineral scanner, similar to a detailed surface scanner.
It shows a HUD overlay showing the bands where certain metals or minerals are in higher concentrations.
So when you drop into the ring segment you chose, the RNG that determines roid composition is favoured towards the ore you have chosen, but it would still be random.
Also, most systems should only show higher concentration bands of only a few ores. This way there would be a difference between systems. Painite rich systems should be very rare. It could make a high painite major/metal rich belt more attractive to mine than a normal pristine/metallic.
It would also be nice if certain types of roids were consistent in composition in some systems. e.g. If high spin banana shaped roids in Delkar were known to be paladium rich, it would add some interest to mining.
