I just wonder how people can legit claim to fill 500+ tons of Platinum in a Cutter in literally "just 30 minutes". Are people just bragging and throwing that number out there?

I mined 800t of Platinum yesterday out of just over 1500t total, 3 trips with my T9, 5 - 6 hours total time

Only 12 limpets? This is my Cutter Laser Miner build... As you can see, this build uses 16 Limpets and 4 x 2D mining lasers ... it's a pretty fast laser miner!

Hmmm that's nice but, I would have to drop one of the huge cargo racks to make that work. To me the whole purpose of mining in the Cutter is that cargo space. I want 500+ tons or else it aint even worth the trip! lol

I'd love to have one of those who claim 'big numbers in a short time' post a youtube video of them achieving 'the numbers' if only to learn...

I'm more tempted to believe your numbers from yesterday as being accurate, going by my own 'good sessions' they are achievable.
Wing mining is another dog... I'd think 'bigger' numbers possible with concerted effort

I saved that build too - it could probably fill the 256t in short order - and I've never tried mining in a Cutter either.

Even using those maps...I just don't see how it's possible to mine 500+ tons in just half an hour. I'm not calling anyone out, I would LOVE it if it's possible. But you are correct, someone please post/link a video of whatever technique makes that possible so I can learn it lol.

and I've never tried mining in a Cutter either.

I highly recommend it. It's like going to buy groceries in a Bugatti La Voiture Noire


Plus it makes it really viable to mine in Res sites. I'm able to ignore pirate fire while mining with just a 6A shield equipped and just let the cops deal with them. I'm thinking of trying some turrets so I can collect bounties while I mine which would also make HazRes not such a "OMG BETTER NOT GET SCANNED" endeavor...hmmmm

I saved that one too... it would be a good 'deep black' setup!
(I love snaffling builds I might not consider - and with FC's opening so many more opportunities for undisturbed fun...)

Ice Maiden's virtually the same, just saves me emptying the bins between rings, Hate wasting them part bins of Core material

My Cutters both have 6A Prismatics - I had bought around 20 Prismatics but sold most of them again as in 'normal' play the disadvantages outweigh the benefits.

Thx everyone for the good info in this thread. I have not mined since the fall NERF, that was way overdone to mining, imho. Perhaps it is time to do a Platnium run or two.

Well so far this system is a bit of a mix.

The Metallic ring is good.

The Metal rich was a waste of time, Tried a double first, in the double area and one of the hotspot centre's, then one of the triples, in the overlap and the middle centre - got a few Cores, unfortunately a fair number of them were Platinum or Painite, lasering rocks was a waste of time very little of any value, maybe a Cores specialist would do better.

Just started my first run in the Icy ring, planet 8 B ring, it's looking good, plenty of rocks with for a Icy ring a good return, better than one for one with limpet use.

Must admit that metal ring was fun, Close the scoop and hit boost, 275 top end with a fair bit of drift and no brakes Weapons focused PD and pips in the wrong place don't help either, almost scratched my hull
