Howdy Cmdrs 07
I'm working on meeting Selene Jean (she's a babe, shaaaaawing!). Requirement is I mine 500t of ore. So far I've done half "and selling it"
But the possibility dawned on me would this work if I mined it and dumped it, then kept on working or does it have to sold?

Yep. :)

(edit: just to be clear to which part of the question I was yepping to - you can dump it. She only wants you to mine, not to get rich. )

Well I sure ain't gonna get rich mining in some obscure part of a ring away from npc pirates. Oh sure I've figured out how to mine with prospectors, collectors and limpets. If you do it correctly and efficiently, you're pretty busy and productive. I can see how folks would enjoy mining.
But as you know, I get bored somewhat easy. I prefer exploring, but after a few months I'm bored to tears. There's no real goals there other than make easy cash. PVE will suit a nitch as will upgrading components. No I see another nitch in mining (eventually).

Thanks Cmdr Simon for the input 07

Having returned from 2+ months exploration trip, I am quite enjoying both combat and mining, atm.
Yesterday, I spent several hours running around the bubble, engineering a heavy combat Mamba. I went a bit overboard with stuff and even with G5 modded FSD she only has 12LY of jump range, which makes things... long-winded.
But as I'm used to jumping ad absurdum, it's alright, I guess. :)

And I see mining to be an Elite equivalent to R/L golf. It's relaxing, nobody chases you anywhere, plenty of time to think about things and enjoy the views. It's an acquired taste but it's good. Especially when you mix all the mining styles.

Dang, my ram with a 5.7 engine gets better mileage than yer mamba.
Whenever I return from a long exploration trip, the bubble seems soooo small. At its widest points its only 9 or 10 jumps.

Hey, while you're out there, be sure to collect 10T of Painite, because that's what she's gonna ask for next.
Why waste the time when I can buy it at the station. It only says I have to provide it. So I'll just buy it instead of trying to find it then mine it.

You can, if you go to one of the carriers that are stockpiling it and selling it.

What I don't know, is if the MIning Queen requires you to actually mine it, or if she is simply content with acquiring it.
True. I keep forgetting about carriers. I think it's my immune system trying to get rid of any thought of them.
In any case, though.
Unless OP gets contacted by a well-meaning carrier owner and offered the painite, it's highly unreasonable to just hop from carrier to carrier for hours in a hope that one of them sells it when mining 10t of the stuff takes 10 minutes in the right spot (which is searchable if need be).

You can't buy painite.
So the best course of action is to do your 500T grind in a painite hotspot. That means that by the time you've thrown away 500T you probably have at least 10T of painite as a collateral.

Looks like carriers
