MINING with the federal corvette

Yup I know! Jump range and weight etc. Not ideal.
Well that depends on why your mining hehe.
Now l did debate getting a cutter and A rating G5 it etc but seen as my corvette is already done I converted her into a miner.
Hull integrity normally 6k now just 3k. Prismatic shields at 6k.
I did strip out all the shield boosters and other bulky modules including weapons but only got an extra 3ly jump range so thought sod it.
So she has her car chuckers (huge PA's) and two small pulse lasers on focused scramble spectrum and thermal shock. The PA's are using plasma slugs.
I got huge beams but l just love PA's.
384 ton capacity. That's about 600 mill per run mining ltds.
I have no problems at all manoeuvres wise in the roids and those medium miner beams are very quick.
No risk at all lol. Course open isn't a option. I see chat at borann and would not like to get ganked. But npcs cannot hurt me so laser mining is a doddle.
Only drawback is l have to do alot of mapping there and back hehe.
I'm in no rush. Saving for a fc.
So just saying contrary to other posts. That the vette is a fab mining ship. Almost invulnerable and turns on a penny.

I have tried it in both , despite the fact that i prefer the vette for not flying like the cutter does (or doesnt) but that extra cargo is giving me nearly 800 mill a run over the vette's 600mill , end of the day its all about the money and the cutter does money better .

Lol I did end up twiddling with her. Reducing hull to a minimum. Putting smaller shields in etc. 6A prismatics g5 cap exp.
Got loaded jump to 19ly. But that's with 9 collectors, 2 prospectors, 384 tons capacity and wow.. mines quicker. In fact l can fill that hold in a few hours leisurely. Her shape (no wings) makes it easy to move about.

I have been using my vet for months on Painte mining till they nerfed it. I have 27 yr jump range loaded, I use FSD which is modified for longer jumps plus a Guardian FS 5A booster. I store my mining equipment at a nearby station, I swap them out when I finish mining. Fuel scoop, weapons for when I go to sell. Haven't had issues with pirates. I made 17 Billion in credits, read for FC when they get them straighten out.

17 bill.?? Omg. I'm at 5 bill as of last night and I'm burned out lol. Hate mining with a passion. But means to an end.
Gz getting all that cash.

This is my Corvette mining build (at link below). i dont like to spend more than 2hrs mining at a time which is why i only use 256 cargo space. I get 29.7 LY when fully loaded.

I looked at your loadout, very similar to mine, except I use two efficient 4A beams, and reactive mirrored shields. When I mine I swap out the 3 seeker missile pods for mining lasers. my guardian booster for prospector and fuel scoop for shield cell banks. I never encounter much in the way of pirates when mining.

If you're happy with only 256T cargo, A Python might be better. I'm running one with 3 lasers and 8 collectors, which gets me 198T (including the full refinery). You get about 10% higher price for your LTDs with the Python, so the value of your cargo is not that much different; however, the Python has a longer range, is nicer to fly and it can land at the outposts, which can mean a 50% difference in LTD price. Over the last 8 trips, the average all-in time for the trip is 75.3 minutes, the average earnings per trip was 250.3 million, which works out at 203.6 mil/hr. The actual mining rate is 228.9T/hr, which would be difficult to beat with any ship.

I have a few more runs to make, then I'm going to switch to a 3 laser 9 collector 522T Cutter to compare. I calculate about 2 1/4 hrs to fill up. I made more than 100 billion with my Cutter, but that was with only 2 lasers and 6 collectors. I've tweaked the load-out since then.

I’ve started mining in my ‘vette as I was getting frustrated with the slow speed for using as a combat ship.

I have 2x Huge Beams on mine for swatting unsuspecting NPC pirates and about 1600MJ of bi-weave thermal resist shields. Yah, I wouldn’t risk Open, either ...

The rest is mining focused, 256T cargo, 3x 5A Collector limpet controllers (9 limpets active) plus a 4A refinery and a 3A prospector, I think. About 500 mil from my last LTD run once I found the right price. At one point I had stuff for deep core mining but I’ve now gone with 3x C2 Mining Lasers and 2x C1 Abrasion Blasters and just grab the easy stuff. :)

With a Guardian FSD booster I get 30-ish LY range of just over 20LY with a full hold which is just about passable for getting around. 6A Fuel Scoop helps keep refuelling quick.

I get 282 units of panite when I mine, I get bored if I had to mine more than that. I haven't been mining since they nerfed the prices. I love the Vet, I do a lot of missions out of Sol for pirates, I usually get 2 to 3 mil per kill. I have about 20 Bil saved which is plenty.

Yeah switched to python too for same reasons. I'm at 7 bill almost. The news that you'll get full purchase price when decommissioning is good

Core mining was fun the first few times - the ‘roid explosions are pretty cool - but standard mining seems more efficient at the moment.

That said, if going core mining, I’d take something more agile than a Corvette - like a Krait - for quickly manoeuvring around the asteroids to plant charges.
