So with the upcoming cargo drone things to make mining not infuriatingly slow (it'll still probably be some of the lowest cr/hour, but that's ok), what ships do you think will end up being the best at the mining thing?

I think the Federal Dropship might be pretty stellar at it. Can carry five C2 Mining Lasers, and has a Class 6 Power Distributor to keep them rolling (not actually sure if that'll actually keep them powered/firing all the time). Can carry a solid cargo load a big refinery AND a decent shield, if you want it.

The first thing I'll do in 1.3 is go hunting for the new ores.

But I'll be mining the normal way, I don't care for "lazy mode" drones ;)

I agree with the Python. Seems like a really good fit. Plenty of cargo space and very capable of defending itself against pirates.

I'm wondering with adequate shielding and turrets, you could just keep mining without having to actively deal with the NPC pirates? :)

I mined some silver last night - it's quite relaxing when you get into the groove. I had a bit of a surprise when the sun set - pitch black in the middle of the asteroid field with just my ship lights for company :eek:. The sunrise was beautiful.
