Minor Faction Decals and Paint

Yes, I'm mad, I'm also well aware that there are 10s of thousands of minor factions. Lol

But hear me out.

What if, we, as the community, made decals, and submitted then for use for minor factions? They'd need vetting for profanity or copywrite infringement, which could be hard work.

Or. Procedural Decals?
Given the procedural nature of faction names, it's not too far of a stretch to assign a shape, or large group of shapes, based on he stats of a faction. Then let RNG drop them in any order as a decal.

As for paint, this one is a bit simpler.
Just randomly assign each faction, their own already existing paintjob from the store, out of the many colours and designs. Then each ship in the faction will be painted the same, unless that ship doesn't have a paint job.

For example, faction A could have Tactical White, so all ships would be white.
Faction B could be Vibrant blue, so all ships are blue. And so on.

Players can then request a tweak should a faction colour feel unsuitable for said faction. For example, pink pirates. Or something.

I don't know, I've been thinking it would be awesome if there was an in-game skin designer where you can manually paint your ship. Or the possibility to custom paint your ship by selecting different sections and picking the color you want.

I like the idea of being able to have minor faction skins but mostly for player minor factions. It would be interesting to be able to submit either a texture for your "faction official ships" or at least a faction decal (the former seems a bit more likely to be implemented)
