Minor fines and service denial.

Why does that have to be a thing?

Sure someone doing some crimes should not get service at stations. I got a 75cr fine for speeding - (I didn't even know such low fines exist), and then the starport didn't allowed me to do buisness.

Seriously? all those poor starving people now gonna have to die because paying this 75cr fine is more urgent than caring about starvation?
Of course I could immediately pay that and continue service, but it feels still a bit overreacting over the grand scheme of things.

This is so silly.
Why can't FDev remember how they did in their own previous games? E.g. in FDev/FFE you were not denied anything, but had to paid fine before undocking/launch. But nothing actually physically prevented you - just if you did, you've got police chasing you and further big bump in notoriety.

This works the inverse. You can pay the fine at the station you docked and then you can use it. What would be the difference before paying before using and after using? You still have to pay it.

Before, you'd get a fine for carrying illegal cargo as a smuggler, and you'd never have to pay it. Smuggling was risk free, all profit. Now, you have to pay the fine first, or go somewhere else and not get caught this time. This system introduces real risk and consequences where there was none or very little before. Inconvenient? Don't do something that'll get you fined, and you won't have a problem, ever.

"Sir I have 700t of food here for starving people, fines or food? whats more important?"

Just pay the fines already and move on.

*pays 75cr fines and moves on to another starving System*

"priorities man, priorities."

dunno, is ing off your potential buisnes partner BEFORE or AFTER the deal a better idea?

Sure but illegal cargo is in the end a crime and a whole other level compared to jsut speeding 5ms past allowed speed and just a minor offence. It's not like I boosted into the station with like 400ms which seriously could hurt and damage someone.
It's just a bit about the "in universe" believable background, aka immersion.

Not very impressed with the new system it's uneccesarily petty and just irritating.
Small infractions really don't need a lockout.

Problem is, if Fdev tried to introduce any complexity into the code (y'know, like IF THEN statements), the galaxy would probably implode.

But seriously, small fines and infractions should be payable anywhere there is a contacts page and in any ship you own and not affect modules. Fair dues on larger (y'know, actual), crimes.

Well in a universe where you get shot for a parking violation, I guess it is not unreasonable to deny you docking in the whole system for speeding.

But I agree the new system is overly complex.
There should be a credit limit, say fines lower then 500C can be paid in the station after docking everything higher you need to clear at an IFS.

This would prevent one being locked out for petty crimes like speeding or scraping some paint of anoher ship while docking.

So much hassle for either failing to wait for a scan or hitting a ship which whizzes through your firing arc. All extremely small amounts of damage resulting in a complete PITA and pointless waiting around.

No one cares about the fines it's the time that's the issue here IMO. I really think it's time to bump the Anon Access threshold higher up the Justice scale so that only sustained fire triggers it. I.e. continuing to fire after the 200 CR assault bounty warning.

Fines can already be paid after docking in Contacts regardless of size.

Bounties can't, because the point of a bounty is to get you out of the system (intact or otherwise)

If you scrape the paint on a ship and kill it, that's a bounty. If you only damage it, that's a fine, and you can dock and pay it off.

Way i see it......You have an Artic lorry full of blankets travelling down the M1 destined for the homeless and freezing people in say...........Derby, police pull you over for speeding! Still gotta pay the fine, and if you don't then just maybe your truck gets impounded until you do pay the fine + expenses.

Time scales are different, but the facts are the same. Do the crime, pay the fine!

I don't see the issue either. Maybe 3 clicks are too much?

Dont speed.

If you do, pay the fine.

Honestly im getting so tired of peoples incompetence being the basis for all these unecessary threads.

Seems some peole do not really get it.

There is no problem in getting a fine or whatever for some small mistakes.

But then forcing you to jump to some backwater system to clear that minor fine that is what is annoying pilots-
Why can I not pay off small fines in the system where I made them?

Like it was in the old system, you got a minor bounty, that would turn into a fine after a few Minutes and a Systemjump, which you could then pay at every station.

You can pay off fines in the sytem you get them in.
Please dont suggest people dont get what you dont get.

If you want proof...speed outside a station. Dock...clear the fine.

Fines can be paid in system but not bounties. But yes having to traipse around finding an IF to pay off a 200 Cr bounty is stupid.
