Minor Tweaks to nail Immersion (feedback)

Please let preface this post with a loving this game statement. I enjoy this game, and there a couple things that would nail the immersion factor...at least for me.
1. Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving us a toggle for the orbit lines. Game looks much better now IMO. Maybe for the planet icons as well, in a 10 planet system its still cluttered. Space is supposed to be empty after all.
2. Please give us a graphic option to remove the Supercruise dust, or at least reduce it down significantly. It is so thick it blocks my view of the system, and it does little to make me feel fast.
3. The Supercruise engine sound is terrible. IMO it should not change pitches once you achieve a certain speed. Its not bad on a 2 minute trip, but after several trips it gets old.
3. I am perfectly fine with the way in system travel is handled. Good choice on that. But its a little strange it takes me 5 minutes to go from planet to planet, but only 5 seconds to travel 5-8 LY between systems. I will probably get burned at the stake for saying this, but I feel it should take at least 10 seconds per LY of travel, maybe even 15. Give me time to get a cup of coffee, and it will actually feel like I traveled a distance.
4. Lower the random NPC encounters when off the beaten path. I was sight seeing yesterday in one of the planet rings, and ran into 3 different pirates. I was 10,000 LS from the nearest station. I have read comments where people have been LY's away from populated space and still get encounters? It would be better to have a percentage system, so when I am in deep space, the actual chances are very low.

Just my thoughts, keep up the great work!

I may be going mad, but I'm sure there was some previous discussion of tying the time taken for hyperspace, and the speed of frame-shift cruising, to be tied into the class of drive, and mass of ship being used. This would then allow a smaller, faster bounty hunter or pirate to overtake their prey and wait in ambush. Probably has fallen by the wayside currently given instancing and p2p issues, but I feel would be a nice future addition.

I dunno, I think supercruise is what needs to be redesigned. I'm not saying instant travel, and I like the interaction with gravity wells, but it's not really a "cruise" if you're constantly messing with throttle levels to maintain control.

ANY moves to increase flight time - especially for hyperspace - should only be done after there has been "in ship" things to do added.
I want a game, not a screensaver. ;)

That said, "in ship things to do" could be as simple as a logbook we can read/write or an in-game encyclopaedia that slowly gets filled up as we explore and scan things.

Well, I didn't want to jump into this bag of worms, but I really hate how it automatically changes your speed. Really feels like hand holding.
