Mirrior Signal Maneuver - free stuff

Finally sold the Lakon and back in the basic Sidewinder with 6MCr in the bank. Wanted to go for 8mil but decided to get out while the going was good.

Trading was easy until last night when there was a pirate Anaconda operating out of Aulin that attacked me on three separate occasions. I only suspect it was the same guy cos I was always running away and never got the name, but he was waiting inside the dock and following Lakons out, attacking before they could hyperspace out.

Only lost about 30t of p-cells in all, but the last attack left me with only 4% Hull and cargo worth over 2MCr in the hold. That was stressful, I can tell you! Anyone who says piloting a Lakon is boring isn't getting the whole picture :)

Anyway looking for an Anaconda so I can return the kind attention but not found one for sale yet at Asselus. Any advice?

nice analogy

I have tried several time to get close enough to the canisters around a station but so far have not managed it, pity there was a bunch of PCells one night.

I get close and the another huge chunk of jutting structure, threatens to splatter me.

Anyone wanting 440 Basic medicines, head over to dehan gateway, I have just delivered them all over the entrance, when I hit it and exploded... Sigh..... this Lakon type 9 heavy, handles like an office block full of custard, powered by an asthmatic ant, turning a hand cranked propeller

Wasn't the Anaconda sold at Freeport?

Yep, the only station that sells it.

Suprirsed that no one else has mentioned this, but if you die you can force close the game without saving (alt+ctrl+del) and log back in and you'll have your ship and all your cargo back. Obviously this is something Frontier should be ensuring can't be done when the game goes live, but since we're currently still in beta I don't really see anything wrong with taking advantage of it.

This might sound obvious, but don't deploy your landing gear until you're inside the station. Landing gear deployed increases the size of your ship's hit box and therefore makes it much more likely that you'll catch something and crash. You'd be surprised how frequently I have seen people in Lakon's trying to get through the entrance with landing gear down and crashing as a result.

Personally the only time I ever exploded in a Lakon was when the game rubber-banded me back into the station. The only two times I had issues docking was when other players were not patient enough to wait and tried to force their way through - luckily this was generally sidewinder pilots who subsequently exploded and I just casually continued on my way.

I think people really need to learn a little bit of decorum and common sense when docking;

1. If a big ship is docking and you're outside, stay back, wait your turn, and give the pilot plenty of room.
2. If you're inside and the big ship is docking, then wait patiently for it to dock.
3. If you're in the big ship and are preparing to leave, wait inside and let everyone else fly in before trying to leave.

I have found that by following those 3 rules myself mishaps happen very rarely.

Even though I am flying an Anaconda, I will still make a point of sitting patiently in the station while smaller ships dock.

Thanks for the Info, guys. Was convinced I'd seen it at Asselus....

I think (and I'm sure I've seen this posted elsewhere) that priority should always go to people leaving the Station, just like on the public transport "let passengers off the train first".

The reason for this:

Pilots waiting to dock have a 10-minute time limit before they have to reapply for permission.

Pilots trying to leave have 5 minutes before they are DESTROYED.

I once had to wait for 2.5 minutes while a newbie Lakon pilot made a dogs dinner of trying to get through the letterbox. I was not impressed.

Why? That's illogical, ships coming into the station may be damaged or under attack and seeking refuge, so they should be given priority.

Priority should be given to whatever is harder/more dangerous.

It is more difficult to enter a station than it is to leave, and more dangerous, and likewise far more dangerous if you try to sit and wait for people to leave.

Also consider this: If you're sitting outside waiting for people to leave, you'll need to be far enough back to not block the exit which means you won't have auto-correct, which means for people leaving the station you'll appear to be spinning making it that much more difficult for people to leave.

So in space the logic is reversed. It makes far more sense for people inside to wait.

If anything, there should be two hatches, one exit and one entry. At the very least it would have been helpful to have traffic lights on the inside preventing players from leaving until the exit is clear.

Not really as you can imagine 30 pilots wanting to leave but can't as there is a queue of 50 ships wanting to enter but can't because it is si congested in the station and the ones inside are not permitted to leave a priority is given to those wishing to enter therefore it is sensible to give priority to those leaving unless there is an emergency landing needed.

The fastest solution to this would be to make the entrance big enough for 2 of the largest ships in the game to pass each other in the entrance. Then anything smaller would not have any issues at all.

I have not being able to play Elite yet, but I remember playing Jumpgate a while back and having the same trouble docking with a heavy transport. It can be very frustrating.

I lost my million credit ship, and 440 cargo containers due to a glitching space dock.

The ship barely fit though the entrance by height, (width is fine). So as the station glitched from a perfectly level entrance matching the rotation of my ship, jumping to a diagonal entrance, and my ship way out of alignment I exploded.

Now I have made my way back up to the same ship again, I am so so careful coming though the entrance, shields on full (4 notches) helps alot!!

The most nerve racking part of this ED experience for me now is not pirates, it's docking.

I am going to do a few more runs this week, and then drop back to the cobra Mk III

The instances don't hold that many players. It's currently capped at around 15, and is unlikely to ever go higher than 30. Even in a 30 instance, it's highly unlikely that you'll get more than 10 players trying to enter and leave, and even less likely that all 10 will be at the station entrance causing congestion at the same time.

Obviously a ship approaching the entrance has to stay clear of any ships already leaving, and you wouldn't expect ships inside to wait for ships that are over 2k away to enter, but the point is that it's easier to sit and wait inside than it is outside.

Trying to dock something like the Lakon has enough difficulties of its own without ignorant people thrusting out of a station expecting no one to be there.

Well, it was the 9th July that I lost my type 9 and was put back to a side winder, today marks the time it's taken for me to get back to picking up a type 9 again. 1 week exactly of only trading, and no battles of any kind with anyone else. I am back to the floating wardrobe full of conkers...

bar the wipe, lets see how long I get to keep the ship this time before it explodes..
