Core mining is better in rocky rings these days. The lower individual value of a core in those is compensated by the fact that everything is worth taking, resulting in a significant reduction in time spent between cores (roughly half of what it took back in the VO-only days). Doing that I can fill up my 160t core mining Orca in ~1h with minerals worth 100-150 MCr (dependent on market rates).
