Missile/torpedo rework

Ok so I do not have access to the beta and I'm very curious as to what they've done to the game. What all do we know about them and what are the big changes?

Tl: dr
They are slower
They do more hull damage

More changes to come.

Not quite useful especially with the drive improvements for smaller ships allowing some ships to reach ludicrous speed :) and the AI running mechanic.

At least the hull damage is upped by why are they slower?! We're in space for Pete's sake! That missile should be moving faster than your sidewinder.

Hello Commanders!

Hmm, looks like our missiles buff has had a slightly rocky start!

We're making a few changes that will drop into the Beta at some point that should increase their potency to where we were expecting it to be. There's also a bug that will be fixed sooner that is making blast radii lag, effectively offsetting from point of impact.

In addition, it's worth noting that seeker missiles will attempt to hit whatever you have *directly* targeted, which means that if you want to hit a particular hardpoint, target it.

We'll keep you updated as the changes drop, Commanders! Keep testing!

4% hull damage against one of those paper couriers seems pretty bad to me.

You can spend all of your ammo and still don't get a single NPC kill.

I said more, I never said "to a useful amount" :p

In any case my only experience has been a Cutter full of pack hounds. Killed smaller ships easily enough until they ran away although the cost for ammo makes them totally useless except for the ultra rich imho. Will see what the further changes mean but currently I won't be fitting point defences to my ships just yet.
