Engineers Missing Bi-Weave's?

OK, not sure if this is a bug or just me, so thought i'd check here before bug report.

2.1...... Went to Diaguandri and bought a Python, kitted her out like normal but wait..... No Bi-Weave Shields available in the Shield section???

So questions is, am i missing something here? are they in the Shields section?, now i know i have bought them from Ray's Gateway before as i always go here for buying ships and stuff?

Hm, haven't checked it in the live 2.1....

But now that you mention it, I realize I didn't even find them at the Founders world yesterday in Beta6. I put it down to some Beta quirk at the time.

Just checked at a place that always had them - gone as well...

Indeed, I can't find any bi-weave. Even funnier, when I mouse over my actual bi-weave, it tells me "Hull mass exceeds shield generator"

Bi Weaves disappeared from beta the same time as powerplay weapons (at least in Shinrarta). Somebody at FD was a bit over zealous with restrictions?
QA said, they are looking into the matter, after the Bi Weaves were reported to be still missing from the live build.
So, we have to wait and see.

If you have them on a ship they still exist so no need to freak out, you haven't lost your existing shields. However they can't be found in stations for purchase. I hope they sort this out quickly. I like to use them in my medium size ships.

Go to an engineer base that works on shields, should be on the outfitting section of that base... I think.

Actually, that reads to me as though Frontier Support don't actually know either way (see the "It's far more likely that the lack of a patch note was an oversight" and "For those asking for reasons why this item was removed, I'm afraid I can't help with that one" comments).

An official comment from the designers/developers is really needed here.

Agreed, yes we need to hear from FD not just on this, but Sooooo many other things as well.

Well, this is probably the easiest one to address - either they give us an official "Yeah, unlucky...we got rid because we don't like them" or flick a switch in the database which got accidentally cleared (OK, it's likely a bit more involved than that, but probably trivial compared with everything else that's going on).

The thing is...bi-weaves were introduced to help smaller ships after the SCB + heat nerf in 2.0. Now they've made heat even more of a problem, but got rid of the only method of countering that mechanic in terms of defensive capability for small ships. I'd be stunned if they've done this deliberately (particularly taking into account the grandfathering issue), because even they should be able to see that it's just an unnecessarily punitive measure in an already punishing release.

The actual complete quote kind of states pretty clearly that they are no longer available for purchase in the game...

"Twitter is an amazing resource for quickly engaging the community and providing answers, but that character limit sure is tricky sometimes. Allow me to clarify things here:
The Bi-Weave Shield is no longer available for purchase in 2.1.
This item was available in the 2.1 Beta, but was removed before live release.
This item was previously available in 2.0. Ships with this module currently installed will retain them until exchanged or sold.
I understand that this change wasn't included in the patch notes for 2.1, which appears to have caused some confusion. (EDIT: It's far more likely that the lack of a patch note for this chance was an oversight rather than anything else. After all, it's a given that players would notice the item dropping out of the markets!)
For those asking for reasons why this item was removed, I'm afraid I can't help with that one. Design decisions tend not to run through the humble Support team in advance. I do suggest bringing this up on our Suggestions & Feedback forum, where a developer may comment further.
