Missing destination

Scan you nav beacon if you don't have a discovery scanner that will give you all system and traffic data.

Make sure you come out of supercrusie into the nav beacon instance and target the grey/white beacon.

Stations and outposts are automatically populated on your system map, but surface bases are not. As said above, you need to either scan the nav beacon (in normal space) or use a discovery scanner to find your destination.

<sigh> I'm going to miss these threads, from tomorrow we'll need a powerpoint presentation to explain the FSS process instead, or just give the nav beacon / buy it answers :)

Thanks all.
Supplementary question- how come I can zip between galaxies in a matter of seconds but sometimes takes forever to get to a distant outpost within a system?

Thanks all.

You can't zip between galaxies. Unless you found the intergalactic hyperspace module

Re: Outposts - if you don't like time in SC, don't pick those missions (information on SC distance is near the bottom of most mission pages).

Thanks all.

You can skip several lightyears in seconds but can only target a system's primary star. The old drives (battlecruisers) are more precise, but can take hours or days.
You are still incredibly fast with the Frameshift-Drive in system (Earth - Mars in a few minutes?).

The less fun answer is: Because it is a multiplayer game and different timescales for different players doesn't work and each system is a separate "level" of the game.

When flying to a far distant port/outpost in a system, target it, head towards it, then untarget the port. Supercruise speed is calculated based on what you are targetting it seems, if you're not targetting it, you will increase speed and get there faster. Just remember to check on your nav panel when youre getting close and re-target.
