Missing Imperial Ship - MEDIUM size

After looking in another thread I realized that indeed the empire lacks one ship.

- A dedicated combat ship larger than an iEagle
- A MEDIUM ship

All ships are either small (icourier and ieagle) or large (clipper and cutter)

So what would they need, a ship that designed for combat, imperial border defense and with a fast response time and able to move fast in combat

The Imperial Frigate
- Smaller and more compact than the Clipper
- Nacelles closer to the body to make it slimmer similar to the courier
- X4 medium slots on top and below each nacelle
- X2 small weapon slots under the main body
- Smaller internal modules than the clipper by 1 size
- Weight about 200 tonnes (half size of clipper)
- 1 size smaller FSD (should be close to similar jump range)
- 8 tonne fueltank
- X2 military modules
- Fast
- Moderate to light armour but good shields
- Average maneuverability between the courier and clipper so around 5

So what would it look like? Perhaps similar to the SR-71 but i would make slightly fatter nacelles and remove the wingtips

I too would love a medium empire combat ship. And walst i love the empire i have little hope for it happening any time remotly soon :(

It's close enough to get your point across. I was just being pedantic.

That said, while I agree there is an opening for a medium Imperial ship, I'm not sure I want to see another ship strongly reminiscent of the Clipper or Courier. Nor do I think frigate is an appropriate designation for a ship of this size.

Well, it IS a rather established imperial design choice.

Who says it's missing? They're allowed to buy an Asp. The Empire isn't embargoed or anything.

Trade ships need some specialisation. E.g. some intermediates from Hauler to 6, 7, 9. And faster or longer range haulers for niche or perishable goods. Or ways to make the traders able to manage that (e.g. secondary FSD or thrusters) Bits like that.

They need a medium ship with 2x large hard points.

I'd like to see something akin to the Vulture but an imperial design, slightly less maneuverable but with dat trademark imperial SPEED!! :D

We need more ships in the Vulture category, as there's already a few medium sized ships in the game.

True, it would have been awesome if they had modeled it more like the original imperial courier from Elite II with retractable nacelles.

I mean, if the Adder can have folding wings why not retractable nacelles for the Clipper.
