Hello Commanders, found at least 1 reason for this issue and a way around it..
Some people have experianced their keybind settings or profiles dissapearing from their game.. just had it happen to me! I tried to reload the game, checked the bindings folder C:\Users\*usename*\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings to see if they were still there.. they were! But the game still wouldn't load them up or even show me the keybind profiles in the options menu. its worth mentioning here, that it is generally a good idea to rename the custom profile to something else, as the game has been known to overwrite a players current 'custom' profile with the orignal fallback version on the odd occasion. That was when i noticed a file in the bindings folder named LoadErrors.log i opened it up in text pad to check it out, and this is what i found -
It would appear, that the game needs any device referenced in a keybind profile, to be active when you load the game up, on this occasion i had not connected my edtracker, which resulted in the game created an error log and resorted to a fallback keybind profile
I was able to remedy this problem quickly, by exited the game, then going to C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings and making a copy of my main profile. I gave it a different name, plugged in my edtracker and then fired the game back up. My profiles, including the renamed version, loaded up as normal, and all was well
in the universe. as a way to avoid the same issue again i removed the edtracker bindings in the new profile. so i have something that will loadup whatever im wanting to do.
hopefully this information will prove useful to any players that have experianced this issue, and will help reduce the stress levels of those who fall prey to it in the future.
