Missing out on mission

Don't you hate it when you open that omnipresent Mission Board and find nothing of value or interest is available to you. But out of curiosity you scroll down to the Unavailable Missions portion and see that perfect mission. It might be unavailable due to cargo space requirements so you can't accept it but you have in the Hangar the ship with the required capability. So you do the right thing, jump into the Shipyard, swap ships and eagerly click on the Mission Board, only to find out that juicy mission has disappeared.

I would like to see an additional option - if a mission is deemed unavailable to a Commander due to cargo restrictions (this would probably include things like the right configuration of passenger cabins) you have the option of 'holding' that mission for a small finite amount of time, like 5 minutes to allow for a ship swap or re-configuration. If you haven't met the requirements in that time, you lose out on the mission with no penalties.

Thoughts???

I agree. There should be an option not to group filter missions availability due to equipment. Equipment can be easily installed.

(this should be in Suggestions btw).

That certainly would be a welcome feature, though the game does something similar already. The board refreshes only once in 15 (I think) minutes, so most of the time you DO have time to change loadout or ship.

I'm not sure about the "holding" concept, but I do see your point and I agree it gets very frustrating.

Perhaps a "conditional acceptance"? You could have the ability to accept, but only if you switch to your other ship/purchase the correct equipment/meet whatever criteria is needed then and there on the spot.

I’m hoping this is one of the QoL improvements FD implements next year....allowing you to accept missions you’re not currently configured to accomplish. There’s already a built in “credit penalty” if you abandon or fail a mission, so most typical players aren’t going to take on something they know they can’t complete. And there’s a time limit on finishing the mission, so it’s not like you could sit on a mission forever. I could see FD increasing the fine for not completing some missions under the role playing notion of “the cargo Must get there in time”. But give the player the option of taking missions beyond their current capabilities and let us make the call if we want to change ships or reconfigure our current ship. We’re already limited in missions by our relationship with the factions.

Thanks for all the responses.

I have noticed there seems to be more hauling missions for a large quantity of cargo (120T etc). If the duration of the Mission is 2D 6H for example, why can't a Commander with a smaller ship do this type of task in stages, i.e. 32T a trip. As long as he transports all the required cargo before the Mission timer expires he should have the same opportunity to take that mission as someone in Anaconda for example.

I just logged into the game to find a 7 mil reward gold transport mission on the mission board. Then I realized I was in my Vulture and my 200t cargo hold Python was in the neighbouring star system.

I think I'm gonna cry myself to sleep tonight.

I agree this would be a useful addition. Though I have also noticed that this issue seems to happen much less frequently since the recent mission changes. I have been able to swap ships or re-outfit what I am flying to take advantage of a mission/passenger run that I wasn't kitted out for. I do this quite regularly with the Python in my home system.
