Missing outposts?

I've run a few delivery missions from a stations bullletin board; delivery xxxxx cargo to yyyyy outpost and system zzzzzz. The thing is, after trekking (!!!) to the said system with a hold full of cargo - yyyyyy outpost isn't there! What's that all about?

Is it a planetary outpost? If so, you often will not see it unless you have scanned the system AND the planet.

Make sure you have an advanced discovery scanner (Only one scan needed to find everything in system), or failing that a smaller one will do, but will require you to scan and move then scan again.

If you don't have an advanced discovery scanner an intermediate will do, just fly towards any space stations / stars first then ping when you get close.
